Dear Parents and Guardians:

We will be conducting a Lockdown Drill at Royal Oak on November 25 at 11:10.  This drill has been planned to occur after a Claremont Lockdown Drill which will occur at 9:00. The objective of the drill is to review with our students and staff the procedures so that everyone is aware of their roles and responsibilities if there is a threat to the safety of our students. With the leadership of our Police Liaison Officer Cst. Eric Misener, the Saanich police will be running/facilitating the drill and will be present for the entire duration.

Prior to the drill, our staff will review with their students what will happen during the drill, what our expectations are for student behavior and what processes we will follow. Cst. Misner is meeting with our staff on November 10th to ensure that we are prepared and comfortable supporting our students. After the drill, our classroom teachers will debrief with their students as well. We would request that you please take a few minutes to talk to your child about the drill before November 25th.
