April 4, 2020

Dear ROMS Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your patience as our Provincial, District and Royal Oak teams have worked together to ensure that our learning communities remain safe during these unprecedented times.  To safely facilitate students accessing our building following the recommendations of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), we have created a process using a Signup Genius.

LINK: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040b4caba629a4fb6-roms

There are 8 slots available every 15 minutes for students (with parent supervision if necessary) to access the building between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm on April 7-9 (Tues/Wed/Thurs). We ask students to come in at their designated time, quickly get the materials they require to support their learning and then exit immediately. We are also asking students to take their locks off their lockers and take them home for safekeeping.

At this time, the art, tech ed, home ec and band rooms are unavailable and arrangements will be made later for students to pick-up their instruments and other FAAS projects. We are also presently making plans for the distribution of report cards that were not picked up, our ROMS hoodies, yearbooks, along with field trip refunds, epi-pens and other items. Thank you for your patience as we find the safest and most efficient way to do this moving forward.

We are asking that we have ROMS students only (no siblings please) entering the school. Families with multiple ROMS students do not require multiple slots and can access the building together at one time. If your child requires support, then one parent or guardian may also enter. We would ask that everyone entering Royal Oak please respect the physical distancing recommendations of the PHO and that they only access their locker and classroom (if needed) understanding that every place that students access requires an intense cleaning protocol for our custodians. Washrooms and water fountains will not be available during this time.

Stay Safe,

Karen MacEwan, Principal                             David Mark, Vice-Principal
