A Holiday Message From the Admin
As we move into the holiday season, we wanted to take this opportunity to update you on what has been happening at ROMS in the fall. Our athletics program has been in full swing this year with students involved in Rowing, X Country, Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball and now volleyball has begun and will continue into the new year. Our Gr 8 leadership students have done a great job of providing opportunities to create spirit at ROMS with the Halloween pumpkin carving event and a costume contest, our annual Christmas Food/Clothing Drive and Festive Day on Fri, Dec 17th. Our athletic leaders have been score keeping for afterschool basketball games, refereeing intramurals and they did a fantastic job organizing a Staff vs Students Basketball game!
Bouquets also go out to our wonderful PAC for the many ways they support us here at ROMS. The Christmas Kahoot last week was a lot of fun, and we appreciate their support with our lunch program and the many clubs/activities that make ROMS such a great place to work and learn.
Teachers have been working hard with our students since September to establish routines, build a sense of community in their classroom and engage students in the academic learning of the first term. You will be receiving your child’s first term report card on Thurs, Dec 16th. If your child is away and unable to pick up their report card, you can come by on Friday or in early January to pick it up.
For those families who will be travelling internationally over the holidays, it is important that you follow the expectations about COVID-19 vaccination and testing requirements, as well as the possible need to quarantine upon your return. You and/or your children may be required to isolate after travelling depending on your travel destination, duration, and any COVID-19 testing results you may receive. The federal government rules for these considerations are being updated on a regular basis, so we encourage you to check the Government of Canada – COVID-19 Vaccinated Travellers Entering Canada website for the most current requirements and restrictions.
On behalf of the entire Royal Oak staff, we want to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2022 ! We look forward with hope and optimism to the new year! We will see everyone back at school on Tues, Jan 4, 2022.
