Royal Oak participated in the BC Green Games video contest sponsored by Science World. The challenge was for students to put together a short video which demonstrated what environmental initiatives the school was working on. At Royal Oak, we are working on improving the Mahon Creek water shed which drains into the Colquitz Creek, a salmon bearing stream. We recently partnered with the Municipality of Saanich to remove blackberry bushes and replace them with proper soil and native plants. This completed phase one of a three phase project.
Royal Oak was one of ten schools in the Province that won the $1000 prize from Science World.
