On Nov 14-15th, Royal Oak Grade 7 students, Alexandria G. and Gonzalo P-F were invited to attend a Regional Swimming Camp organized by Swim BC. This was a great opportunity for them to learn from olympic swimmers and some of the province's elite coaches. They both earned their invitation to this camp through their successes in the sport throughout 2013.

In the 12 and under category, Gonzalo was ranked 1st in Canada for the 100M backstroke and 4th in Canada for the 200M Backstroke; but an injury stopped his aspirations to hold "his title" for longer. He and Alexandria will be representing ROMS in the next Elementary and Middle School Swim meet, that will take place this upcoming weekend, while they prepare for their last meet of the season, on Dec 7-9th.

In a ceremony hosted by the Island Swimming club this past weekend, they were both awarded for achieving their AAA Qualification Standards.

Way to go Alex and Gonzalo!
