Band Sectionals:

All grade 6 flute players have sectionals tomorrow.

All grade 6 trumpet players have sectionals on Wednesday.

Band registration forms are due to Mr. Bridgman by the end of the day on Wednesday.

There will not be a jazz band rehearsal this week.

Conversations Club:
Make Monday Marvelous by joining us for card games and popcorn today at Lunch-Recess in the Blue Conference Room. A great chance to connect with some friendly folks in other classes. 

Ga Ga Ball Courts:
Today on the courts will be grade 7s. Tomorrow will be grade 8’s.

From the Learning Commons - you still have time to enter the Mystery Spot contest, but it does close at the end of block 3 tomorrow. 25 prizes are up for grabs, and if you've already entered, you can enter again, when you return a novel. 

Science Challengers: Tomorrow is our competition at UVIC.  Please see Mr Azim of you need any clarification with your study materials.

Popcorn: On sale at first recess today at the canteen. $1.50 per bag.

Canteen Tuesday: On sale at first recess tomorrow is pizza bread, cookies & iced tea.


There will be a mandatory meeting for all grade 6 players attending at FIRST recess at the PE office to discuss details and transportation to the event. 

The grade 7 City Championships are tomorrow after school and the grade 8's play Wednesday after school.

There is a grade 8 team qualifying practice today at FIRST recess.

Field hockey: All Field Hockey players are reminded of their practice - Tuesday at 8.  Please bring mouth and shin guards and an extra sock for your stick.

Gr 8 Intra murals;
Reminder to grade 8's to check the PE board for this week's badminton divisions and to enter their teams of 3 on the board for the upcoming tournament. 

Rugby: All team practice after school today from 3:15 - 4:30. 

Track & Field:  

Relay teams will be organized this week so stay tuned to further announcements later this week for details. The first track and field meet of the season is Thursday May 9th at UVIC .

Student Learning Survey for Grade 7 students and parents, please refer to our main web page https://royaloak.sd63.bc.ca for more information.

2019-20 Registration is ongoing for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.  Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.

Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February).   An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including  new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.

Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.

Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

PAC Executive team is in need of help, volunteers like you make a big difference to our students, and there are so many ways to be a part of your child’s school, volunteering is flexible and allows you to participate as it fits into your schedule. If you’re not sure of a time commitment or what the job includes, please contact the PAC.

Dear Royal Oak Families,


On behalf of your 2018/19 Royal Oak Middle School PAC Executives, we would like to thank you all for giving us the opportunity to represent you this school year.  


As the school year is coming to an end we would like to announce that there are allot of PAC executives that will be leaving Royal Oak Middle School and executive’s positions become available.  This year we estimate receiving $20.00 per student in gaming funds, these funds can be used for classroom funds, swimming programs, sports programs, math manipulative, Reading program, and many clubs that are held at Royal Oak for our students.  Without PAC Executives, we lose these funds.


Every parent is a member of the PAC and I encourage you all to come out and get involved.  New ideas are always welcome and there are all kinds of ways you can help support ROMS.


Every position except two in PAC is vacant.  Please email romsparents@gmail.com to nominate a friend, parent/guardian or yourself to hold a position for the 2019/2020 school year.

May is (AGM) meeting where new executive members are sworn in to the PAC executive team, please come out and support PAC as the school needs executive members on board to receive grant funding from the government.
