Thinking about joining the band next year? There will be a band instrument tryout night tonight at 6:30 pm in the band room. Any students who are interested in joining band for the first time next year are invited to attend.
All grade 6 bass players have sectionals tomorrow.
There will be a jazz band rehearsal tomorrow at 1:30pm.
Ga Ball Courts:
We Create Change: This is the final week for the We Create Change Campaign and we are already at $300 of our $500 goal! Every cent of funds raised goes to help others in the developing countries that are not as fortunate as us! Every $25 provides clean water for an individual and $50 provides a goat for a family! We are at 6 goats so far, can you help us get to ten as a school? Small change can create big impact!
Popcorn: On sale at first recess today at the canteen. $1.50 per bag.
Cookies: There will be cookies for sale today at 1:16 outside the Canteen. Two cookies for $1. Proceeds go to the BC Cancer Clinic.
Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow -cookies, mac & cheese & ice tea.
Badminton: This is the last week of qualifying practices as the City Championships are next week. Mr. Menzies will announce the tournament team rosters later this week.
Field Hockey: All field hockey players are reminded to let Ms. Fuller or Ms. Wheatley know how they are getting to our games at UVic on Thursday by First Recess on Thursday.
Gr 8 Intra Murals: Reminder to grade 8 divisions to check the PE board for this week's intra-mural badminton games and to sign-up for the championship tournament.
Rugby: Good luck to our grade 6/7 boys and girls teams who play today!
Track & Field: Reminder to all students that the track and field schedule is on the roms athletics website. The next practice is tomorrow morning at 8am.
Please meet Ms. Wheatley at "The Pit" during Lunch Recess today and Friday this week. First timers are most welcome!

2019-20 Registration is ongoing for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province. Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.
Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February). An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.
Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.
Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

PAC Executive team is in need of help, volunteers like you make a big difference to our students, and there are so many ways to be a part of your child’s school, volunteering is flexible and allows you to participate as it fits into your schedule. If you’re not sure of a time commitment or what the job includes, please contact the PAC.

Dear Royal Oak Families,
On behalf of your 2018/19 Royal Oak Middle School PAC Executives, we would like to thank you all for giving us the opportunity to represent you this school year.
As the school year is coming to an end we would like to announce that there are allot of PAC executives that will be leaving Royal Oak Middle School and executive’s positions become available. This year we estimate receiving $20.00 per student in gaming funds, these funds can be used for classroom funds, swimming programs, sports programs, math manipulative, Reading program, and many clubs that are held at Royal Oak for our students. Without PAC Executives, we lose these funds.
Every parent is a member of the PAC and I encourage you all to come out and get involved. New ideas are always welcome and there are all kinds of ways you can help support ROMS.
Every position except two in PAC is vacant. Please email email@example.com to nominate a friend, parent/guardian or yourself to hold a position for the 2019/2020 school year.
