Band Sectionals:

All grade 6 trombone players have sectionals today.

Jazz Band: There will be jazz band rehearsals today and Friday.

Boys Group: A reminder that Boys' Group meet today at the Beginning of Advisory in the Blue Conference Room.

Breakfast Friday:
Reminder to students, that on Friday, the Claremont PEP team will be in Rm 215 for a light breakfast and games at 7:45.  There is only room for 15 students. 

Choir Practice:
There will also be a rehearsal tomorrow at 1:16 in the band room.

Drawing Club: Please see Ms. Kardash In Room 123 if you are interested in joining a Drawing Club Thursdays at Lunch starting today. 

Ga Ga Ball Courts:
It’s Grade 8s on the courts today!   tomorrow it will be Grade 6s.

Judo Club: Judo Club members please get your completed permission forms to Mr. Mollard for Friday's outing.  If you don't have a form see Mr. Mollard today.

Me to We Kenya Parent Meeting:
The parent information session for the Me to We Kenya Service Learning trip is today at 5pm in Miss Cottier's classroom- room 222.  Please note that this trip is now scheduled for July of 2021 instead of July of 2020.  

We Create Change: The We Create Change Me to We campaign has officially been launched at Royal Oak!  Every student is challenged to bring in $1 to help those children in developing countries that are not as fortunate as us!  Every $25 raised provides clean water for an individual, and every $50 provides a goat to feed a family.  One small gesture can make a huge impact in our world!

Paper Recycling Today:

Just a reminder that it is paper recycling day today. Please make sure that you send a student down with your recycling to the bins at the beginning of Advisory.

Canteen Thursday: On sale at first recess today is - chicken wings, cookies & ice tea.

Pizza Day tomorrow - $2.50 per slice


ROMS played it's first exhibition yesterday, and participating players did a great job in their matches versus Monterrey. The next one is next Wednesday after school versus Cedar Hill here at ROMS.

Girls Field hockey: Reminder that our next practice is Tuesday morning at 8 am. Please bring your shin guards and mouth guards.  We will scrimmage.

Track & Field:
Sign up for all events will happen at practices, so be sure to attend. The first track and field meet is at UVIC on Thursday May 9th.

2019-20 Registration is ongoing for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.  Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.

Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February).   An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including  new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.

Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.

Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

PAC Executive team is in need of help, volunteers like you make a big difference to our students, and there are so many ways to be a part of your child’s school, volunteering is flexible and allows you to participate as it fits into your schedule. If you’re not sure of a time commitment or what the job includes, please contact the PAC.

Dear Royal Oak Families,


On behalf of your 2018/19 Royal Oak Middle School PAC Executives, we would like to thank you all for giving us the opportunity to represent you this school year.  


As the school year is coming to an end we would like to announce that there are allot of PAC executives that will be leaving Royal Oak Middle School and executive’s positions become available.  This year we estimate receiving $20.00 per student in gaming funds, these funds can be used for classroom funds, swimming programs, sports programs, math manipulative, Reading program, and many clubs that are held at Royal Oak for our students.  Without PAC Executives, we lose these funds.


Every parent is a member of the PAC and I encourage you all to come out and get involved.  New ideas are always welcome and there are all kinds of ways you can help support ROMS.


Every position except two in PAC is vacant.  Please email romsparents@gmail.com to nominate a friend, parent/guardian or yourself to hold a position for the 2019/2020 school year.

May is (AGM) meeting where new executive members are sworn in to the PAC executive team, please come out and support PAC as the school needs executive members on board to receive grant funding from the government.
