Chill Zone: Today during outdoor activity time Chill Zone will be meeting in room 125. Please meet Ms. Campbell there if you are interested in attending today's session. 

Choir Practice:
There will also be a rehearsal today at 1:16 in the band room.

Drawing Club: Please see Ms. Kardash In Room 123 if you are interested in joining a Drawing Club Thursdays at Lunch starting April 11th! 

Ga Ga Ball Courts:
It’s Grade 7s on the courts today!   On Tuesday it will be Grade 6’s.

From the Learning Commons - it's the end of our first week of the Mystery Dot reading contest, and already we have more than two dozen spots claimed on the chart! You can enter more than once - every time you return a novel, you can enter again! But sorry, this contest isn't open to graphic novels - choose a regular novel, next time you come to the LC.

City Championship qualifying practices have begun! All grade 8 are scheduled for their first practice today at second recess today. Next week's practice schedule will be posted on the ROMS Athletics website by tomorrow. All signed up students must attend qualifying practices next week to play matches in their qualifying tournament. All students are welcome to attend "Open Practices" for their grade next week.

Field Hockey:
Reminder to all field hockey players that our first practice is on Tuesday Morning at 8 am in the gym.  Please bring an extra sock to cover your stick for practice.

The rugby season starts next week! All players are asked to ensure they have handed in their permission forms to their coaches and have looked at the schedule on lowerislandschoolsports.ca. Also, please have transportation arranged to away games.

GIRLS' RUGBY. Monday is a Non instructional Day, so we will have a practice on the field after school on Tuesday in preparation for our Jamboree on Wednesday after school at Juan de Fuca & Scrum fest at Claremont on Thursday morning.  Please return paperwork to Ms Adams' office Room 117 ASAP.

Track & Field:

Student Learning Survey for Grade 7 students and parents, please refer to our main web page for more information.

2019-20 Registration is ongoing for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.  Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.

Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February).   An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including  new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.

Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.

Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

PAC Executive team is in need of help, volunteers like you make a big difference to our students, and there are so many ways to be a part of your child’s school, volunteering is flexible and allows you to participate as it fits into your schedule. If you’re not sure of a time commitment or what the job includes, please contact the PAC.

Dear Royal Oak Families,


On behalf of your 2018/19 Royal Oak Middle School PAC Executives, we would like to thank you all for giving us the opportunity to represent you this school year.  


As the school year is coming to an end we would like to announce that there are allot of PAC executives that will be leaving Royal Oak Middle School and executive’s positions become available.  This year we estimate receiving $20.00 per student in gaming funds, these funds can be used for classroom funds, swimming programs, sports programs, math manipulative, Reading program, and many clubs that are held at Royal Oak for our students.  Without PAC Executives, we lose these funds.


Every parent is a member of the PAC and I encourage you all to come out and get involved.  New ideas are always welcome and there are all kinds of ways you can help support ROMS.


Every position except two in PAC is vacant.  Please email romsparents@gmail.com to nominate a friend, parent/guardian or yourself to hold a position for the 2019/2020 school year.
