Mr. Bergeron’s PE Class: All students in Mr. Bergeron’s PE class please meet in Ms. Blaikie’s room 132 at the beginning of the block. Bring a pencil.

Boys Group: Boys' Group will be meeting this week in the blue conference room at advisory. 

Chess Club: Chess Club is canceled for today, see you next week!

Drama Club:
All drama club members have a brief meeting today at 1:16 in the drama room.  Remember that your tech and dress rehearsal is on Thursday from 116 to 3 pm.  Our performance is on Monday.

Hot chocolate: Hot chocolate for sale this Thursday at the Canteen.  $1/cup.  All money donated to Kid Sport.

Popcorn: On sale at first recess today in the canteen. $1.50 per bag.

Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow sliders & cookies

Grade 8’s: A reminder to all grade 8 students and teachers that today you will be going to Claremont to watch the musical The Addams Family – buses leave here at 11:45 and you will return at 3:00 pm. Students will eat their lunch prior to boarding the buses.


Gr 6/7 Rugby:
Attention all grade 6/7 boys and all girls who are interested in playing rugby this year! There will be a meeting
TOMORROW at SECOND recess in the gym to discuss introductory details for the upcoming seasons. Please come to the gym right after advisory TOMORROW to indicate to Mr. Menzies that you are interested, and to receive details about sign up and first practices.

Gr 8 Rugby: Notice to all grade 8 boys - our first rugby practice is Wednesday after school. Cleats and mouth guards mandatory. 


Congratulations to our all grade 6 Competitive Girls Volleyball Team who came second in the grade6/7 league last night. Stellar performances, lots of fun and a great work ethic paid off! Celebration Friday at lunch recess!

Gr 7/8 Girls Rec:
A very important message: The jamboree scheduled for this afternoon is cancelled! You will 
not be playing volleyball today. Please see Mrs. Kreiser for any questions.

Gr 8 Girls Blue Team:
Grade 8 Girls Competitive Volley ball - Blue Team - Coach Goy - have an important meeting at first recess today in room 133.  

We have six grade 7/8 girls teams playing today. Teams that are playing away games are asked to check in with their coach to confirm transportation arrangements to your game.

Swim Team:
All members of the ROMS Swim Team are asked to come to the gym for our team photo today. Please bring your team t-shirt and help remind fellow swimmers to attend.


2019-20 Registration began on February 4th at 8:00 am for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.  Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.

Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February).   An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including  new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.

Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.

Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

A reminder to parents to contact the ROMS Safe Arrival Line at 250-479-0999 or email royaloak_attendance@saanichschools.ca if your child will be absent or late.

Our goal with this Easter fundraiser, is to raise money to purchase Chrome Books for our students.

Online ordering and payment now available

Dear ROMS Parents, 

This year we are going to try a new approach to ordering/purchasing or donating for the Royal Oak Middle School PAC.  We are moving to on line ordering to ensure accuracy and to make the process as easy for everyone as possible.

Drum roaster Coffee can now be ordered on line, and more ROMS fund raisers will appear throughout the year.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Enter Access Code “ROMS”

  • Complete the rest of the registration form.  (Including your email address will ensure you receive reminder emails about fund raising/event deadlines.)

  • Follow the instructions to add each child in your family who attends Royal Oak Middle School.

  • Once your child(ren) are registered, click on “Orders” to order anything that is available for fund raising.


We only accept PayPal (www.paypal.com).  No cheque or cash payments will be accepted at any time.  

You can pay with a credit card as a PayPal guest (Visa, Mastercard or Amex), or set up your own PayPal account.

Thrifty Smile Cards: All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would like a card, please contact romsparents@gmail.com.
