Band Sectionals: All grade 6 trumpet players have sectionals today.
Jazz Band: There will be a jazz band rehearsal today.
Boys Group: Boys' Group will be meeting today at 12:45 in the main foyer- We will be going to the Commonwealth Pool - Bring your swim suit and towel!
Claremont Counsellors: A reminder to all grade 8 students that the Claremont Counsellors are visiting ROMS today and tomorrow. If you need assistance with your Course Selection forms or have questions – you can book appointments at the office. Counsellors meet with parents/students in the Blue Conference Room 227.
Tomorrow morning Claremont PEP students will be hosting a free pancake breakfast for RO students. There is only space for 15 students so it is a first come first serve. Along with breakfast, there will also be board games. If you are looking for an activity tomorrow morning, come to room 215 between 7:45 and 8:30.
From the Learning Commons - yes, the LC is STILL handing out Hershey's Kisses when you bring your school ID to borrow a book or a Chromebook. Bringing ID makes the signing-out process go WAY faster!
The next Youth in Action meeting is today at 11:23am in Miss Cottier's room.
Paper Recycling Today:
Just a reminder that it is paper recycling day today. Please make sure that you send a student down with your recycling to the bins at the beginning of Advisory.
Canteen Thursday: On sale at first recess today will be sliders, cookies and hot chocolate.
Pizza Day tomorrow - $2.50 per slice
Attention all grade 8's interested in the rugby PE program at Claremont - Mr. Ohl, the teacher/coach, will be in Mr. Stanchfield's room, 232, Friday at lunch to answer any questions.
Gr 8 Boys Rugby Practice: Notice to all grade 8 boys - our first rugby practice is Wednesday after school. Cleats and mouth guards mandatory.
Gr 6 Girls:
The Grade 6 Girls Volleyball team has made the city finals. Congratulations players and coaches! Playoffs are on Tuesday, March 5 at Gordon Head Middle School to see who will be the champion.
Swim Club: Reminder to all members fo the ROMS Swim Team, that the 4th and final Swim Meet of the year is this Sunday at Commonwealth pool. All team members are asked to check in with MR. Menzies today to confirm your attendance this Sunday.

Claremont Counsellor Appointments
Gr 8 Parents wishing to meet with a Claremont Counsellor with questions and concerns regarding academic pathways, course selection and class placement may book an appointment to meet with a Claremont Counsellor on February 28 & March 1 between 9:00 am and noon. Appointments will be held at Royal Oak Middle School and can be scheduled by contacting Donna Punt at 250-479-7128 Extension 452 or emailing your request for an appointment to firstname.lastname@example.org Please ensure that you provide your student's name & Division your name and contact information. Thank you!
2019-20 Registration began on February 4th at 8:00 am for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province. Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.
Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February). An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.
Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.
Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

Thrifty Smile Cards: All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help with PAC Fund raising. If your family is not intending to use it, please return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school office. In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would like a card, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
