Chill Zone: Today during outdoor activity time Chill Zone will be meeting in room 125. Please meet Ms. Campbell there if you are interested in attending today's session. 


Drama Club:
Drama Club members have rehearsal today at 1:16 pm. Please bring your scripts and have your parts memorized!


Pink Shirts: If you ordered a pink shirt for Pink Shirt Day, shirts have arrived and you will be able to pick them up during advisory on Monday, Feb 25. Stay tuned for more information on Monday!


ROMS Hoodies:
Mr. Menzies will only accept order forms up until advisory today. This will be the last chance to order limited edition ROMS Champion hoodies don't delay. The delivery date goal for hoodie order is March 14th.



Talent Show:
Auditions that were scheduled today will be held next Monday.


Walkway: Reminder the new pathway is a public sidewalk.  RO students are only to be on the first 1/3 section leaving space for the public.  You must share the sidewalk.

Pizza Day – Classes will be called in the following order: Wolf, Orca, Raven & Thunderbird Helpers: France Trip

Volleyball:


Congratulations to our Volleyball teams who played this week. They played some great matches and did a great job representing Royal Oak around town. The playoffs begin soon so we with all team luck with their last few regular seasons play dates in the coming weeks. 

Practicing today at SECOND recess is MR. G's 6/7 boys team, and Mr. Sparanese's gr 7 girls team.  

Mr. Hilleren’s Grade 8 girls Volleyball practice is cancelled today due to the Ski trip, see you next week

Claremont Counsellor Appointments


Gr 8 Parents wishing to meet with a Claremont Counsellor with questions and concerns regarding academic pathways, course selection and class placement may book an appointment to meet with a Claremont Counsellor on February 28 & March 1 between 9:00 am and noon. Appointments will be held at Royal Oak Middle School and can be scheduled by contacting Donna Punt at 250-479-7128 Extension 452 or emailing your request for an appointment to dpunt@saanichschools.bc.ca Please ensure that you provide your student's name & Division your name and contact information. Thank you!



2019-20 Registration began on February 4th at 8:00 am for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.  Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.

Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February).   An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including  new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.

Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.



Band Registration: Mr. Bridgman will be handing out band registration forms to all current grade 6 and 7 band students. Registration deadline is Wednesday, May 1st.



Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

Online ordering and payment now available

Dear ROMS Parents, 


This year we are going to try a new approach to ordering/purchasing or donating for the Royal Oak Middle School PAC.  We are moving to on line ordering to ensure accuracy and to make the process as easy for everyone as possible.


Drum roaster Coffee can now be ordered on line, and more ROMS fund raisers will appear throughout the year.


Here’s how to get started:

  • Enter Access Code “ROMS”

  • Complete the rest of the registration form.  (Including your email address will ensure you receive reminder emails about fund raising/event deadlines.)

  • Follow the instructions to add each child in your family who attends Royal Oak Middle School.

  • Once your child(ren) are registered, click on “Orders” to order anything that is available for fund raising.

PayPal:

We only accept PayPal (www.paypal.com).  No cheque or cash payments will be accepted at any time.  

You can pay with a credit card as a PayPal guest (Visa, Mastercard or Amex), or set up your own PayPal account.

Thrifty Smile Cards: All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would like a card, please contact romsparents@gmail.com.
