Those
of you who made Chinese New Year lanterns on Monday, who would like
to bring them home, please pick them up at some point today from the
Blue Conference Room. They will be there until 3:30pm today. We will
meet again next Monday to kick off Acts of Caring Week. See you then!
Drama

club is rehearsing on today
at 1:16 in the drama room. This is an important meeting as we
will begin casting roles for our plays. See Ms Noel if you have any
questions.
Math Challengers: The next math challengers meeting is today at 1:16 in Miss Cotter's room. It is important for all those interested in competing at Camosun on Friday, February 22nd to attend to ensure that you get signed up.
Paper Recycling Today:
Just a reminder that it is paper recycling day today. Please make sure that you send a student down with your recycling to the bins at the beginning of Advisory.

Hoodies:

Royal Oak Limited Edition Champion Hoodies are again available for
order from now until February 14th. Order forms can be found outside
the PE office and on the ROMS Athletics website, and sample sizes to
try on are available at the PE office. This will be the last chance
to order hoodies this year so don't delay!
Science
Challengers:
Do
you like Science. Are you interested in studying material that
is beyond the curriculum? Would you be willing to represent
ROMS at a competition at UVIC? If so, please come to a Science
Challengers information session in room 230 on Tuesday, February 12
at lunch recess.

2019-20 Registration began on February 4th at 8:00 am for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province. Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.
Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February). An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.
Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.
Band Registration: Mr. Bridgman will be handing out band registration forms to all current grade 6 and 7 band students. Registration deadline is Wednesday, May 1st.
Handbags for Hope: There is a drop off donation bin in the main foyer of the school. Please consider donating new and gently used handbags, scarves and jewelry. Handbags for Hope fund raiser supporting BC Children’s Hospital is hosting an event on Friday, Feb 22nd at the Fairmont Empress.

Online ordering and payment now available
Dear ROMS Parents,
This year we are going to try a new approach to ordering/purchasing or donating for the Royal Oak Middle School PAC. We are moving to on line ordering to ensure accuracy and to make the process as easy for everyone as possible.
Drum roaster Coffee can now be ordered on line, and more ROMS fund raisers will appear throughout the year.
Here’s how to get started:

Thrifty Smile Cards: All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help with PAC Fund raising. If your family is not intending to use it, please return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school office. In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would like a card, please contact romsparents@gmail.com.
