Band Sectionals:
All grade 6 trumpet players have sectionals
tomorrow at 1pm in the band room.

Conversation and Activities Club:
Haven't checked out the Conversations Club yet? Today is a good day to come by the Blue Conference Room at Lunch-Recess as we prepare for Chinese New Year tomorrow and enjoy some Chinese treats. Hope to see you there!

Drama Club:
A reminder to all Drama Club members you are meeting today in the drama room at 1:16 pm.  See you there!

Grade 8 Baby Photos: A reminder to all Grade 8 students that you have until Friday, March 15th to email Miss Cottier a baby photo for the yearbook.  Please send digital images to ecottier@saanichschools.ca

Math Challengers: What did the Zero say to the Eight.....Nice Belt! The next math challengers meeting is this Thursday at 1:16 in Miss Cottier's room.  It is important for all those interested in competing at Camosun on Friday, February 22nd to attend to ensure that you get signed up.

Pink Shirt Orders: Today is the deadline to order a pink shirt for Pink Shirt day on February 27th. $20 per shirt. Don’t delay, order today!

Snow Day:
Today the weather has turned cold with snow.  There is no throwing of snow or rubbing it in someones face.  It is a a regular outside activity day for both recess and lunch.  Reminder to dress warm as you head outside. 

Youth In Action: Rafiki bracelets go on sale this Thursday during advisory at the front of the school! Get your beautiful beaded bracelet to support both Kenya and our village initiative in Haiti for just $10!  The next Youth in Action meeting is this Thursday at 11:23 in Miss Cottier's room.

Popcorn: On sale today at morning recess at the canteen. $1.50 per bag.

Canteen Tuesday: On sale at first recess in the canteen tomorrow will be pizza bread, cookies & hot chocolate.


Swim Club:

Congratulations to the ROMS Swim Team on your performance at yesterday's swim meet. Our swimmers posted some impressive times and did a great job representing Royal Oak. Go Eagles!


This week's volleyball practice schedule for all teams can be found on the ROMS Athletics website and on the PE office doors. Have a look to see when you are practicing this week. Game schedules for all teams can be found at lowerislandschoolsports.ca. Parents and players are asked to organize and arrange transportation to away games and parent drivers are reminded to ensure you have completed all the SD63 transportation requirements if driving additional students.

Practicing at SECOND recess today is Mrs. Kreiser's grade 7/7 girls recreational team. 

Practicing after school today is Ms. Espedido's grad e8 girls team and Jim Smyth's grade 7 girls team.

There will be a meeting fro all grade 8 competitive boys today at FIRST recess at the PE office to confirm transportation to today’s game at Lansdowne. All players must attend.


2019-20 Registration begins on February 4th at 8:00 am for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.  Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.

Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February).   An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including  new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.

Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.

Band Registration: Mr. Bridgman will be handing out band registration forms to all current grade 6 and 7 band students. Registration deadline is Wednesday, May 1st.

Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

Online ordering and payment now available

Dear ROMS Parents, 

This year we are going to try a new approach to ordering/purchasing or donating for the Royal Oak Middle School PAC.  We are moving to on line ordering to ensure accuracy and to make the process as easy for everyone as possible.

Drum roaster Coffee can now be ordered on line, and more ROMS fund raisers will appear throughout the year.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Enter Access Code “ROMS”

  • Complete the rest of the registration form.  (Including your email address will ensure you receive reminder emails about fund raising/event deadlines.)

  • Follow the instructions to add each child in your family who attends Royal Oak Middle School.

  • Once your child(ren) are registered, click on “Orders” to order anything that is available for fund raising.


We only accept PayPal (www.paypal.com).  No cheque or cash payments will be accepted at any time.  

You can pay with a credit card as a PayPal guest (Visa, Mastercard or Amex), or set up your own PayPal account.

Thrifty Smile Cards: All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would like a card, please contact romsparents@gmail.com.
