Grade 8 Farewell Bake Sale: Baked goods will be sold in the canteen area at first and second recess today. Gluten free, peanut free and dairy free items will be available. Please come out and support us!

From the Learning Commons - today is February first, the start of the 'loveliest' month of the year! Ms. Lindsay is getting out the message of 'bring your ID to the LC' by offering, for the first two weeks of February, a Hershey's Kiss to every student who brings their ID (student or bus) to the LC when they come to sign out a book. And because it's the first today, we're also offering the newest scratch-and-sniff bookmark (candy hearts) when you sign out a book, while they last. 

Pink Shirt Orders: Monday, February 4th is the deadline to order a pink shirt for Pink Shirt day on February 27th. $20 per shirt. Don’t delay, order today!

Pizza Day & Bake Sale: Today we are having the Gr 8 Farewell Bake Sale and Pizza day.   The Bake sale happens at  Recess out of two locations. 1) The MPR  2) The Canteen.   At lunch the Bake sale will sell out of the Canteen only.

For Pizza today, we will sell the pizza out of the MPR as usual and the second location will be out of the Drama room.  Please follow directions and expectations with regards to this change of routine for today only. 

Rafiki bracelets arrive at Royal Oak on Thursday! Help support both our village in Haiti and the women in Kenya by purchasing one of these beautiful beaded bracelets for $10 each!

Chill Zone: Today during outdoor activity time Chill Zone will be meeting in room 125. Please meet Ms. Campbell there if you are interested in attending today's session. 

Pizza Day – Classes will be called in the following order: Raven hallway, Thunderbird, Wolf and then Orca Helpers: Div M-3 Ms. Cottier


Athletic Leadership:
Reminder to all members of Athletic Leadership of your meeting today during advisory. All member must attend.

Swim Club:
Members of the ROMS Swim Team are reminded of their swim meet this Sunday at Commonwealth pool from 10am - 1:00pm. Go Eagles!


Congratulations to all our volleyball teams who played this week and did a great job representing Royal Oak in competition around Greater Victoria. Great job Eagles! This week's practice schedule can be found on the ROMS Athletics website and on the PE office doors. Next week's practice schedule will be posted by tomorrow morning so please have a look to see when your team is practicing next week. 

Practicing today at SECOND recess is Mr. Hasting's grade6/7 boys team, Practicing after school is all three grade 8 girls competitive teams.

Player and parents are reminded to go to lowerislandschoolsports.ca to view game schedules for all teams and to ensure they have arranged transportation to away games. Also, that they have completed all the SD63 requirements for driving additional players to games.

Grade 6/7 boys rec Volleyball : We will have a practice Monday Morning at 8:00am.


2019-20 Registration begins on February 4th at 8:00 am for new registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.  Registration packages are available on-line or at the School Office.

Please note that we will not be hosting an Open House this year (previously held in February).   An information evening will be held later in May for all confirmed incoming Grade 5 students including  new (grade 6/7/8) registrations coming from Out of District, Out of Catchment, Private Schools or Out of Province.

Returning ROMS students do not have to complete a registration form. Grade 8 students transitioning to Claremont for Grade 9 in September do not have to complete a registration form for Claremont.

Band Registration: Mr. Bridgman will be handing out band registration forms to all current grade 6 and 7 band students. Registration deadline is Wednesday, May 1st.

Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

Online ordering and payment now available

Dear ROMS Parents, 

This year we are going to try a new approach to ordering/purchasing or donating for the Royal Oak Middle School PAC.  We are moving to on line ordering to ensure accuracy and to make the process as easy for everyone as possible.

Drum roaster Coffee can now be ordered on line, and more ROMS fund raisers will appear throughout the year.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Enter Access Code “ROMS”

  • Complete the rest of the registration form.  (Including your email address will ensure you receive reminder emails about fund raising/event deadlines.)

  • Follow the instructions to add each child in your family who attends Royal Oak Middle School.

  • Once your child(ren) are registered, click on “Orders” to order anything that is available for fund raising.


We only accept PayPal (www.paypal.com).  No cheque or cash payments will be accepted at any time.  

You can pay with a credit card as a PayPal guest (Visa, Mastercard or Amex), or set up your own PayPal account.

Thrifty Smile Cards: All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would like a card, please contact romsparents@gmail.com.
