Band Sectionals: All grade 6 bass players have sectionals today at 1pm in the band room.

Whistler Band Trip: Final payment and permission forms for the Whistler band trip are due to Mr. Bridgman today!

Choir Practice: This week choir will be practicing on Wednesday at 1:16 in the band room. Please join us. All new members welcome!

Eagles Club: Eagles Club meets this WED in block 2 in the Learning Commons. We have a special guest elder coming to teach us this week. See you on WED in the LC.

Found: A pair of glasses were found in the girls washroom on the green floor on Friday. Please claim at the office.

France Trip 2019: Today’s France trip meeting at lunch is rescheduled for Thursday instead.

Grade 8 Farewell Bake Sale: Please bring loonies, toonies and quarters this Friday to support the Grade 8 Farewell!  Baked goods will be sold in the canteen area at first and second recess. Gluten free, peanut free and dairy free items will be available. Thanks for your support!

Gr 8 Leadership: There is a meeting today at 1:16 in the Art Room for all Gr 8 Leadership students.

Pink Shirt Day: Feb 27th is anti bullying day! Order your pink shirt today - $20 per shirt. Order forms available outside the office. Order deadline is Feb 4th.

Canteen Tuesday: On sale at first recess in the Canteen today is pizza bread, cookies & hot chocolate.

Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,


Gr 6/7 Intra Murals:
Today is round 2 of the Green Floor versus Blue Floor Intramural Dungeon ball series. Last week the Green floor came from behind to take game 1 of the series. Divisions from the blue floor playing today are M-4, 7-2, M-8, and 6-1. Division playing from the green floor are M-10, M-9, 7-3, and 6-2. Players are asked to come to the gym after advisory today ready to play.

Swim Club: 

Attention all member of the ROMS Swim team! There will be an important meeting today at FIRST recess to discuss details of the upcoming swim meet. All members of the team must attend.


This week's volleyball practice schedule for all teams is now posted on the ROMS Athletics website and on the PE office doors. Please have a look to see when your team is practicing. This week we have all of our teams playing games. This includes both competitive and recreational teams, so it will be a busy week. Players and parents are asked to go to lowerislandschoolsports.ca to view the game schedule and to ensure you have arranged transportation to away games. Parents who plan on driving other player are also asked to ensure you have met all the SD63 driver requirements to drive other students. Please contact the school office if you have any questions.

Practicing after school today is coach Jim Smyth's grade 7 girls team from 3:15 – 4:45.

Mrs. Blaikie and Mrs. Gill's volleyball team has a mandatory meeting at first recess in Mrs. Gill's room (221).

Gr 8 Girls Blue Team:
There is a mandatory meeting for all grade 8 girls volleyball Blue Team - coach Goy - today at first recess in room 133.

Homework Club: Extra academic support is available to students through the homework club. This is a drop in service that will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings from 8-9 am in the Learning Commons, and Tuesday afternoon in Room 215 from 3:10-4:10 pm.

This will be one of the final fund raisers for the grade 8 farewell so we are asking for any grade 8 parents that are able to bake and deliver their baked goods to the school on
Friday February 1st from 8:30-9am.
Volunteers will be outside the office to accept baked goods. 

Please label any items as gluten free, peanut free, or dairy free, otherwise, all baked goods will be accepted! And don’t forget to send money with your child that day to purchase these yummy treats!

Online ordering and payment now available

Dear ROMS Parents, 

This year we are going to try a new approach to ordering/purchasing or donating for the Royal Oak Middle School PAC.  We are moving to on line ordering to ensure accuracy and to make the process as easy for everyone as possible.

Drum roaster Coffee can now be ordered on line, and more ROMS fund raisers will appear throughout the year.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Enter Access Code “ROMS”

  • Complete the rest of the registration form.  (Including your email address will ensure you receive reminder emails about fund raising/event deadlines.)

  • Follow the instructions to add each child in your family who attends Royal Oak Middle School.

  • Once your child(ren) are registered, click on “Orders” to order anything that is available for fund raising.


We only accept PayPal (www.paypal.com).  No cheque or cash payments will be accepted at any time.  

You can pay with a credit card as a PayPal guest (Visa, Mastercard or Amex), or set up your own PayPal account.

Thrifty Smile Cards: All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would like a card, please contact romsparents@gmail.com.
