Morning Radio News @ 9:05 am

Band:

Band registration forms for 2018/19 are due today, see Mr. Bridgman for more details.

Band Sectionals: All grade 6 Trombone, Baritone and Bass players have sectionals today during advisory in the band room.

Eagles Club: A reminder to Eagles Club members of our meeting this Wed in block 2 in rm 215. See you there. Please bring your permission form for the Elders Tea.


Girls Group: Girls from both rotations will meet in the Blue Conference room during Advisory today to make bath bombs. See you there!


Gr 8 Leadership: Just a reminder to the Grade 8's who are helping Ms. Hunter with the Grade 5's to please meet in the MPR at 9:00 am.


Friday: A reminder that Friday, May 4th is a Non Instructional Day – no school Friday.


Lost and Found: The lost and found is starting to pile up again. Please check it out and make sure nothing is yours!


Canteen Today: On sale at first recess in the canteen will be Mac & Cheese, cookies & Iced tea.


Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,



ROMS SPORTS:

Badminton:
Congratulation to our grade 6 badminton team on their performance last night in the City Playoffs. Our team played some close matches and did a great job representing Royal Oak. Great job Eagles! The grade 7 City Playoffs are today at SMUS and all grade 7's involved are asked to come to the gym at FIRST recess for an important meeting this morning.


Girls Field Hockey: Attention all Field Hockey Players!  Field Hockey Practice is Canceled for this Tuesday!  There will be NO practice this week.  Remember you must check in with Ms. Wheatley on Wednesday at FIRST RECESS to say how you are getting to the games at UVic.  If you don't check in, you will NOT be going up to Uvic.



Grade 8 Intra murals: This week's grade 8 intra-murals will be drop-in badminton. See you in the gym, with gym strip, Wednesday lunch. 


Track and Field:

This week's track and field schedule can be found on the ROMS Athletics website. Please go to the Royal Oak homepage and click on the eagle head to view. Sign up for all events will happen at practices so students are encouraged to attend if they are interested. Tomorrow morning will be the first high jump practice with Ms. Espedido at 8:15am. The first Track and Field meet at UVIC is next week on May 10th.

Travino Lane: Please avoid going through the Travino Lane development when dropping your son/daughter off at school. This is a private road.

Art Room Request for Magazines: ROMS families.......Please consider donating your used magazines to the art room. We are in NEED for sports, food, fashion, travel, lifestyle, surf, boating, clothing/shoes....currently we are low in all categories. Just drop them off to the art room! Thank you so much, Darlene Kardash


Non Instructional Day: The school will be closed on Friday, May 4, 2018.

Welcome to the first day of May!  Today is Tuesday, May 1 and here’s the news about what’s happening at ROMS.  Our weather calls for cloudy skies and some sunshine with a high of 16 degrees.  

A Big welcome to the Cordova Bay students who are here visiting us.  These students will be our next years grade 6 students.

 Did You know?

  • Did you know Americans eat 35,000 tons of pasta a year

Reminders:

Badminton playoffs are this week.  Check with Mr. M to see if you are in the finals.   A big thank you to Mr. Menzies for organizing this.

 

If you borrow an object from a friend or teacher, always return it.

 

Did you tell your parents one thing you learned  at school today? There is not saying “nothing”

 

Recycling:   Only tetra juice boxes go in the tetra recycle bins.

 

Cell Phones:  Reminder phones need to be locked up in the locker unless directed by the classroom teacher to use them as a tool.
