Band Sectionals: All grade 6 percussionists have sectionals during advisory in the band room on Thursday..


Jazz Band: There will be a jazz band rehearsal on Thursday at 1:15pm in the band room.


Chess Club:
Anyone interested in playing chess is welcome to play every Wednesday at lunch in room 230 (Mr Azim's room).  Students from all grades and skill levels are welcome.  Whether you are a beginner or a competitive chess player, stop in on Wednesday!


Class Photo Day is Thursday, April 5th. The staff group photo will also be done Thursday.

Dance Club: There will be an important rehearsal for all dance club members this WED/THUR/FRI at 116 on the stage. You must attend to perform at Claremont at the end of April. See Ms Noel if you have any questions.


Report Cards & FSA's:
Reminder Report Cards go home today.  For Gr 7 students, the FSA  results and booklet will also be going home with your report cards.  


Yearbook:
Next Friday, April 13th, is the final day to submit your orders for the 2017/2018 ROMS Yearbook!  Order forms available from Miss Cottier and Miss Cottier's website. No late orders will be accepted and only a small quantity of additional yearbooks will be ordered.


Youth In Action:
Take the We Are Silent Pledge next Wednesday April 11th to turn up the volume of those children around the world fighting for their basic human rights!  Challenge yourself with a $5 pledge to be silent from 9am to 3pm.  All funds raised go towards our Ethiopia village initiative.


Canteen today: On sale at morning recess at the canteen. $1.50 per bag.


Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow -chocolate chip cookies, mac & cheese & ice tea.


ROMS SPORTS:

Badminton:
Reminder to all students interested in playing badminton this season that there is a meeting at SECOND recess in the gym. Mr. Menzies will be going over how the season will work as well as handing out general information. Please help remind your friends and come to the gym right after advisory.


Girls Field Hockey:
Attention to all girls interested in playing field hockey this year for Royal Oak.  First practice will be on Thursday, after school.  Please bring a mouth guard, shin guards, and a extra sock for your stick as we are practising in the gym.

Rugby:
Reminder to all members of the grade 6/7 boys rugby team. You have a practice today after school from 3:15-4:15. Please be dressed with mouth guard, cleats, and PE strip ready to practice after school and help remind your fellow players. Also, permission form are due so please hand them into Mr. Menzies ASAP!

 

There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing rugby, tomorrow at FIRST recess in the gym. All girls interested in playing are encouraged to attend. That's girls rugby meeting, tomorrow at FIRST recess in the gym. See you there!

Class placement Interviews 2018/19 school year: April 10, 11 & 12 between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm

*** On-line booking began today Wednesday, April 4th at 8:00 am

Parents will be given an opportunity to book an appointment with an Admin Counsellor to discuss their student's class placement for 2018/19. Please note that each appointment will be 10 minutes in duration. We ask that you come prepared to discuss your student's academic strengths and areas of concern. We Are Silent – April 11 - Vow of SilenceStudents and staff are able to take the pledge to remain silent all day to bring awareness to those who do not have a voice in the world. Please respect your fellow students and teachers. It is a day to appreciate all that you are able to have - access to an education, ability to live in a safe society, democracy, and food and clothing. Watch for further details.

Today is Wednesday, April 4, and here’s the news about what’s happening at ROMS.  Our weather calls for cloudy skies with rain showers and a high of 8 degrees.  

 Welcome Back to everyone after a two week spring break!    Trust everyone had many sleep ins!!!

Did You know?  Report # 2 goes home today?  Be sure to show it to your parents and return the envelope signed!  For the Grade 7 students, your results from the FSA test will also be going home today.

People facts:

Since founding the Imagination Library in 1995, Dolly Parton has donated 100 million books to children.

The 100 folds in a chef's toque are said to represent 100 ways to cook an egg.

Interesting fact:  

Ravens in captivity can learn to talk better than parrots.



Term 3:   We are now well into term 3!  Be sure to set goals and keep a strong academic focus.   Three months to go before we are done the 2017 - 18 year!

Pizza Day!  Yes will be this Friday!   That’s two more days kids!  

Hallway TV’s - check out the many Europe photos posted by Ms Cottier!  The gr 8 team travelled 4 countries in 10 days! Amazing!
