Band: All grade 6 Saxophone players have sectionals during advisory in the band room today.

Jazz Band: There will be a jazz band rehearsal today at 1:15pm in the band room.

Lost & Found:
Be sure to check the lost and found this week. We will be donating the items to a local charity on Friday. Be sure to have a look before it is all taken away.

We Create Change:
This is the final week for We Create Change at Royal Oak! Youth in Action has challenged all students to bring in $1 to support our village initiative efforts in Ethiopia! One small act of kindness on our part can impact many lives in another country! Help fill your classes Starbucks cup of change today!

Report Cards:
Reminder term two report cards go home April 4th. For grade 7 students, the FSA booklets will also be going home with the report cards,

This Friday is the last day to submit your Grade 8 Baby photo for the ROMS yearbook! Please send digital photos to ecottier@sd63.bc.ca.

Youth In Action:
There is an important Youth in Action meeting today at 11:23am in Miss Cottier's room.

Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess today -chocolate chip cookies, mac & cheese & ice tea.

ROMS TV: this is a heads-up for the team of Grace S., 7-1, James M., 6-3 and Brendan H., M-6 - you will be doing the first two weeks of ROMS TV news when we come back from spring break. Since you have already done your jobs before, and very well, we might add, there is no need for you to come in today. A reminder will be given to you when we come back.


Staff vs Students Volleyball Game Today: Just a friendly reminder to all staff and Gr 8 competitive team members that bragging rights for volleyball supremacy will be decided today at lunch!!! Spectators are welcome if they are cheering for teachers! Go to teachers!!!

Badminton: The 2018 badminton season is right around the corner and this season's details and the information is now posted on the ROMS Athletics web page. The Royal Oak team will begin the first week back from Spring Break.

Girls Rugby: Attention all girls interested in playing rugby this year! There will be a meeting for all girls in grade 6, 7, and 8 at FIRST recess today in the gym. This is a great opportunity to learn about and play one of Victoria's premier sports and come check it out and bring your friends. That girls rugby meeting at FIRST recess in the gym today. See you there!



Spring Break: The school will be closed for the weeks of March 19-23 and March 26-30. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 3rd.

Bus Registration: As of February 1st the School District 63 transportation department will no longer be accepting bus registrations for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact the Transportation Department at 250-652-7343 if you have any questions.

Our Next PAC meeting is Today. In response to numerous parent requests, we have scheduled two action packed presentations:

The first presentation “Let's Chat About Vaping” begins at 6:30 pm.


  • Shedding light on the myths regarding Vaping and it harmlessness

  • Recognizing the rise in the use of Vapers and how to talk with your children about this growing trend.

The second presentation “Social Media for Parents” begins at 7:15 pm


  • To educate on safe on line engagement.

  • To view the landscape of social media sites and their applications.

  • To increase awareness of your child’s social media presence.

  • Provide some strategies to keep your child safe.
