Morning Radio News @ 9:05 am


Band: All grade 6 Trumpet players have sectionals during today advisory in the band room.


Vocal Ensemble: There will be a vocal ensemble meeting on TuesdayMarch 13 at 1:15pm in the band room.


Chess Club:
Play chess tomorrow at lunch in room 230.


France Trip 2018:
This week's France meeting will be on Wednesday at 1:15pm in Ms. Ryan's room.  Be sure to attend for the final reminders before next week's trip.  


Girls Group:
Today, rotation 2 will be making SLIME! Please remember to bring an empty container or bag with you to take your slime home in. 

Also, we will have to eat our lunch quickly or else we won't have enough time to finish.

See you tomorrow in the Blue Conference Room. 


From the Learning Commons - Ms. Lindsay will be holding a meeting on WEDNESDAY during advisory for all interested students who want to hear about the upcoming heritage fair at the Royal BC Museum in May. A heritage fair is like a science fair, except it's about YOU and your connection to Canadian history. You can bring your lunch and hear all about it on WEDNESDAY.


Science Challengers:
Today we have our run-off test at lunch recess in Mr Azim's room.


We Create Change:
This is the final week for We Create Change at Royal Oak! Youth in Action has challenged all students to bring in $1 to support our village initiative efforts in Ethiopia! One small act of kindness on our part can impact many lives in another country!  Help fill your classes Starbucks cup of change today!


Yearbook:
This Friday is the last day to submit your Grade 8 Baby photo for the ROMS yearbook!  Please send digital photos to ecottier@sd63.bc.ca.


Youth In Action:
There is an important Youth in Action meeting this Thursday at 11:23am in Miss Cottier's room.

Athletic Leadership:
There will be a meeting today at FIRST recess for all Athletic Leadership members. Please come to the gym after block 2 and help remind your fellow members.

Volleyball:
Just a reminder so all ROMS volleyball players that you are encouraged to represent your floor today in a challenge volleyball game today at lunch. Only those that are in proper gym strip are eligible to play. Fans and spectators are welcome!!

Gr 6/7 boys Rugby: There will be another rugby practice for the grade 6/7 boys team tomorrow after school. All players interested must attend as player packages will be handed out at this practice. Students who are still interested in playing rugby are asked to talk to Mr. Menzies.

Gr 8 Boys Rugby: Reminder to the grade 8 boys Eagles rugby team of their practice Wednesday after school. See Mr. Stanchfield if you have any questions

ROMS PARENT REVIEW:

Bus Registration: As of February 1st the School District 63 transportation department will no longer be accepting bus registrations for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact the Transportation Department at 250-652-7343 if you have any questions.

PAC General Meeting, Thursday March 15th:


Our Next PAC meeting is Thursday March 15th. In response to numerous parent requests, we have scheduled two action packed presentations:


The first presentation “Let's Chat About Vaping” begins at 6:30 pm.

Highlights:

  • Shedding light on the myths regarding Vaping and it harmlessness

  • Recognizing the rise in the use of Vapers and how to talk with your children about this growing trend.


The second presentation “Social Media for Parents” begins at 7:15 pm

Highlights:

  • To educate on safe on line engagement.

  • To view the landscape of social media sites and their applications.

  • To increase awareness of your child’s social media presence.

  • Provide some strategies to keep your child safe.
