Drama Club:
Drama Club members are now meetin during block 3 today for a rehearsal before the school performance in block 4. Meet on the stage right after recess.

Eagles Club:
Eagles Club members are reminded of their meeting today in block 2 in RM 215. See Ms Noel if you have any questions.


All grade 6 Bass Guitar, Trombone and Baritone players have sectionals during advisory in the band room tomorrow.

There will be a jazz band rehearsal tomorrow at 1:15pm in the band room.

International Women's Day:
Today is International Women's Day, a day to observe the achievements of women everywhere. To celebrate this day, Ms. Lindsay has put together a display of books on women who have achieved in all walks of life. The display is so big it has been placed on the shelving under the windows. Come by, everyone, and have a look, or even borrow a book!

Pizza & Pellegrino Friday:
This Friday is a Pizza and Pellegrino day at Royal Oak. Pizza $2.50 and Pellegrino $2.

Canteen today: Popcorn sold today at first recess. Popcorn $1.50



Congratulations to the grade 7 competitive girls volleyball team on your successful season. They girls played well last night in the City Finals and did a great job representing Royal Oak this season. Thank you to Ms. Espedido for coaching the team this year.

Gr 8 Intra Murals:
Congratulations to 8-2 for their win in the grade 8 intra-mural dodge ball quarter-finals. Come watch 8-2, 8-3 and 8-8 battle for the intra-mural Championship Cup

Gr 8 Boys Rugby: 

Notice to the grade 8 boys Eagles rugby team of their practice today. See Mr. Stanchfield if you have any questions.

Swim Club: There will be a team photo today in the gym at FIRST recess. Swimmers are asked to bring their team t-shirts and ribbons to the photo.


Girls Rugby Coach Needed:
We are looking for a girls rugby coach. We have quite a bit of interest from students who are interested in playing rugby this year. Unfortunately we do not have a staff member who is able to coach this term. We are in desperate need of parent coaches. If you are interested and available to coach please contact Ian Menzies, Athletic Director at imenzies@sd63.bc.ca as soon as possible. Thank you!


Bus Registration: As of February 1st the School District 63 transportation department will no longer be accepting bus registrations for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact the Transportation Department at 250-652-7343 if you have any questions.

PAC General Meeting, Thursday March 15th:

Our Next PAC meeting is Thursday March 15th. In response to numerous parent requests, we have scheduled two action packed presentations:

The first presentation “Let's Chat About Vaping” begins at 6:30 pm.


  • Shedding light on the myths regarding Vaping and it harmlessness

  • Recognizing the rise in the use of Vapers and how to talk with your children about this growing trend.

The second presentation “Social Media for Parents” begins at 7:15 pm


  • To educate on safe on line engagement.

  • To view the landscape of social media sites and their applications.

  • To increase awareness of your child’s social media presence.

  • Provide some strategies to keep your child safe.
