Band Sectionals:

All grade 6 Percussionists have sectionals during advisory in the band room today.

Vocal Ensemble:

There will be a vocal ensemble meeting today at 1:15pm in the band room.

We Create Change:
The We Create Change Campaign starts today at Royal Oak! The Youth in Action group challenges every student to bring in $1 to support our village initiative in Ethiopia!  $25 in change provides clean water and $50 provides a goat to a family in need.

Drama Club:
Drama Club members are now meeting during block 3 on WED for a rehearsal before the school performance in block 4.  Meet on the stage right after recess.  

Eagles Club:
Eagles Club members are reminded of their meeting on WED in block 2 in RM 215. See Ms Noel if you have any questions.

Girls Group:
Rotation 1 will be making SLIME! Please remember to bring an empty container or bag with you to take your slime home in. 

Also, we will have to eat our lunch quickly or else we won't have enough time to finish.

International Women's Day:
Thursday, March 8, is International Women's Day, a day to observe the achievements of women everywhere. To celebrate this day, Ms. Lindsay has put together a display of books on women who have achieved in all walks of life. The display is so big it has been placed on the shelving under the windows. Come by, everyone, and have a look, or even borrow a book!

Judo: A reminder to that Judo club is today after school in the MPR from 3:15-4:45 pm. See Mr. Mollard if you cannot attend.

Pizza & Pellegrino Friday:
This Friday is a Pizza and Pellegrino day at Royal Oak.  Pizza $2.50 and Pellegrino $2.

A reminder to Lauren R. and Livia A., both in 6-1, and Victor T., 7-3 - your two week shift as ROMS TV staff starts today! Please report to the learning commons at 11 am. (block 2). thanks.

Youth In Action:
A reminder for Youth in Action members to ensure that their Starbucks cup is decorated and delivered to their classrooms as soon as possible this morning.  The We Create Change campaign will run this week and next.  

Canteen Tuesday: On sale at first recess today at the Canteen is: pizza, falafel and cookies.

Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,


Athletic Leadership:
Athletic Leadership members are reminded that grade 6/7 intra murals are today at lunch recess, and of score keeping duties for volleyball this week.

Girls Field Hockey: Attention all girls interested in playing field hockey for Royal Oak this year.  Please go to Ms. Fuller's room 124 on the Green Floor TODAY - March 6 at 1:16 to sign up.  Information about practices will be given out.

Gr 8 Intra Murals:
Congratulations to 8-2 for their win in the grade 8 intra-mural dodge ball quarter-finals. Come watch 8-2, 

8-3 and 8-8 battle for the intra-mural Championship Cup on Wednesday. 

Gr 8 Boys Rugby: Notice to the grade 8 boys Eagles rugby team of their practice on Wednesday after school. See Mr. Stanchfield if you have any questions. 

Swim Club: Congratulations to all members of the ROMS Swim Team on a great season! The final swim meet of the year was last Sunday, and Royal Oak Swimmers had a very strong performance and did a great job representing ROMS at the meet! Thanks to parents and Pacific Coast Swimming coaches who helped out with the team. There will be a team photo tomorrow (Wednesday) in the gym at FIRST recess. Swimmers are asked to bring their team t-shirts and ribbons to the photo.

Gr 7 Girls: Ms. Espo's Grade 7 girls volleyball meeting today at first recess to strategize how to keep calm in between points at the final tournament today after school. Meditation mats are optional.

Gr 8 Boys:
Congratulations to the grade 8 boys competitive team on your season! The team played their final games last night and made big strides this season. A big thank you to coaches Mike, Stef, and Jill for all the time you devoted to leading and supporting this team. Great work Eagles!


Girls Rugby Coach Needed:
We are looking for a girls rugby coach. We have quite a bit of interest from students who are interested in playing rugby this year. Unfortunately we do not have a staff member who is able to coach this term. We are in desperate need of parent coaches. If you are interested and available to coach please contact Ian Menzies, Athletic Director at imenzies@sd63.bc.ca as soon as possible. Thank you!


Bus Registration: As of February 1st the School District 63 transportation department will no longer be accepting bus registrations for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact the Transportation Department at 250-652-7343 if you have any questions.

PAC General Meeting, Thursday March 15th:

Our Next PAC meeting is Thursday March 15th. In response to numerous parent requests, we have scheduled two action packed presentations:

The first presentation “Let's Chat About Vaping” begins at 6:30 pm.


  • Shedding light on the myths regarding Vaping and it harmlessness

  •  Recognizing the rise  in the use of Vapers and how to talk with your children about this growing trend.

The second presentation “Social Media for Parents” begins at 7:15 pm


  • To educate on safe on line engagement.

  • To view the landscape of social media sites and their applications.

  • To increase awareness of your child’s social media presence.

  • Provide some strategies to keep your child safe.

Today is Tuesday, March 6, and here’s the news about what’s happening at ROMS.  The weather calls for sunny skies and a high of 7 degrees.   It looks like spring is trying to arrive.

Pizza Day:  Friday, only 3 days away due to the holiday!

Grade 8’s:  If you do not get your course selection form in, it is now your responsibility to get it up to Claremont.

Grade 8 Ski Trip:  The Gr 8b ski trip went as planned.  A Big thank you to all the teachers who went on the trip and a special thanks to Mr. Kenny for being the main organizer.
