NID Day: A reminder to students and staff that tomorrow a Non Instructional Day and classes are not in session. No school tomorrow!!


Welcome to all Claremont PEP students and staff visiting ROMS today to present to our Grade 8 students. Thank you for taking time out of your day to share your knowledge.


Band Sectionals: All grade 6 trumpet players have sectionals during advisory today in the band room.


Jazz Band: There will be a jazz band rehearsal today at 1:15 pm in the band room


Boys Group: Reminder about Boys' Group Meeting at the Beginning of Advisory in the Blue Conference Room. 


Craft Club: Today at 1:15 in the Art Room. See Ms. Ozi for details.


Dance Club:
All Dance Club members are reminded of rehearsal today on the stage at 1:16.  We will be learning new parts to our dance. See you then!


Drama Club:
Rehearsal reminder for all cast members in drama club of your meeting today at 116 in the MPR.  See Ms Buxcey if you have any questions.  


From the Learning Commons - did you know that February is Black History Month across Canada? For the next week or so, you can see the two banners we've been loaned that highlight black pioneers in our community. Come take a look! 


Lego Club:
Come and build every Thursday at lunch activity in Ms. Campbell's room, 131. 


Paper Recycling Today:

Just a reminder that it is paper recycling day today. Please make sure that you send a student down with your recycling to the bins during homeroom this morning. So please send your recycling to the bins now!


Pink Shirt Orders have arrived and will be coming home with students today (if you ordered a shirt). Don't forget to wear your pink shirt on Wednesday, February 28th.


Science Challengers:
Please submit your field trip forms as soon as possible.  Also, please note that next week's meeting will be on Tuesday, February 27 at lunch recess!


Youth In Action:
The next Youth in Action meeting is today at 11:23am in Miss Cottier's room.


Canteen Thursday: On sale at first recess today -chocolate chip cookies & ice tea.


Pizza Day – Today is the cleanest grounds day. Classes will be called in the following order: Thunderbird hallway, Orca, Wolf and then Raven hallway. Helpers: Division M-7 Mrs. Labelle


ROMS SPORTS:

Volleyball:

Congratulations to Mr. Sparanese's grade 7 girls volleyball team and Coach Chris Yue's volleyball team on a successful season! Our eagles played their final jamboree last night and did an excellent job representing Royal Oak volleyball. Great job girls!


This week's practice schedule for all teams has been posted on the Royal Oak Athletics web page, and game schedules and league rules can be found at lowerislandschoolsports.ca. Please have a look to see when your team is practicing and playing this week. Players are reminded to confirm transportation arrangements to away game in advance and be able to tell their coach who is driving them to the game and home.


There will be a meeting in the gym today at SECOND recess for all grade 6/7 boys on both the competitive team and the recreational team to confirm transportation to your away games at Gordon Head and North Saanich later today. All players must attend.


Practicing later today are:


Mr. James grade 6/7 boys recreational team.


Grade 8 Intra Murals: Notice to divisions 8-1, 8-2, 8-6 and 8-7 of their intra-mural dodge ball quarter-finals Wednesday at lunch. 8-3 and 8-8 have a bye to the semi-finals the following week. 


Grade 8 Rugby:
A great start to the grade 8 boys Eagles rugby season in the snow yesterday; reminder of the next practice, Wednesday after school. See Mr. Stanchfield with any questions.

Claremont Counsellor Appointments

Gr 8 Parents wishing to meet with a Claremont Counsellor with questions and concerns regarding academic pathways, course selection and class placement may book a 15 minute appointment to meet with a Claremont Counsellor on February 27th between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm and February 28th between 9:00 am and noon.


Appointments will be held at Royal Oak Middle School and can be scheduled by contacting Donna Punt at 250-479-7128 extension 452 or emailing your request for an appointment to dpunt@sd63.bc.ca Please ensure that you provide your name and contact information as well as your student's name.. Thank you!


Bus Registration: As of February 1st the School District 63 transportation department will no longer be accepting bus registrations for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact the Transportation Department at 250-652-7343 if you have any questions.
