Chess Club:
Anyone interested in playing chess is welcome to play every Wednesday at lunch in room 230 (Mr Azim's room).  Students from all grades and skill levels are welcome.  Whether you are a beginner or a competitive chess player, stop in on Wednesday!

Drama Club:
The entire cast of drama play is asked to meet today at advisory in the drama room. Bring your lunch.  See Ms Noel or Ms Buxcey if you have any questions.

Grade 8 Farewell: The Grade 8 Valentine's Day bake sale. Bake Sale will be held today during lunch recess. Bring a loonie or toonie and help support the Grade 8 farewell celebrations.

Lego Club: Come and build every Thursday at lunch activity in Ms. Campbell's room, 131. 


Math Challengers:
The final Math Challengers Prep session is today at 1:15 in Miss Cottier's room.  Please bring your permission forms and practice booklets with you.

Rafiki Bracelets are back! Special edition Valentine's Day and Pi Day Bracelets will be on sale for $10 each at Lunch until they are sold out!  All proceeds go towards are Ethiopia village initiative.

Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow -chicken wings, cookies & ice tea.

Grade 8 Rugby:
Notice to all grade 8 boys interested in rugby - there will be an meeting in Mr. Stanchfield's room Thursday during morning recess. 



Bus Registration: As of February 1st the School District 63 transportation department will no longer be accepting bus registrations for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact the Transportation Department at 250-652-7343 if you have any questions.

A reminder to parents to contact the ROMS Safe Arrival Line at 250-479-0999 or mailto:romssafearrival@sd63.bc.ca if your child will be absent or late.


Grade 8 Farewell Parent Meeting:
Feb 15th from 6-7pm is the second Grade 8 farewell organization meeting in
the learning commons room. This is for any grade 8 parent who would like
information regarding the year end celebration. All grade 8 parents welcome.

PAC Meeting: Please join us at the next PAC General Meeting on Thursday, February 15 as Claremont School Counselors will be there to provide information on the Grade 8 transition process, course selection and programs available at Claremont. Come, ask your questions and stay informed.

The Grade 8 Bake Sale will be held today Feb 14th Valentines day
during Lunch recess*.

Today is Thursday, February 14 , and here’s the news about what’s happening at ROMS.  The weather calls for clouds with some sunny periods and  a high of 9 degrees.

Did You know?

  • It’s an evolutionary mystery that scientists have had trouble explaining, but humans are the only animals who actually enjoy eating spicy food. There does not seem to be any health benefits to eating painful peppers   so the best reason some have suggested is the thrill factor


  • You can recycle aluminium over and over again, and there is really no limit to it.

Bake Sale: Today is the Grade 8 Farewell Bake Sale at recess!  Be sure to  check out today at lunch to see if there is any left overs on sale.

Lost and Found:  Check out the lost and found for your missing items.  Everything is on display for you to have a look.  There are presently over 86 items in the L and F.

Olympic News:   

Did you know?  The official languages of the games are English and French, complemented by the official language of the host country.

Tarzan competed in the Olympics: Johnny Weissmuller, an athlete-turned-actor who played Tarzan in 12 movies, won five gold medals in swimming in the 1920s.

Grade 8 Students:  Claremont  Counsellors will be here on Feb 19th to hand out course selection forms.
