Monday: A reminder to students & staff that Monday, February 12th is a Stat holiday....no school Monday!!

Compost: A reminder to all classrooms to please make sure that you empty your compost bins today.

Pink Shirt Day: A reminder that today is the absolute deadline to order your Think Pink t-shirt. Orders must be in by lunch activity time. T-shirts are $15. each. Size samples are available in the main foyer during lunch activity time.

Early Dismissal: Next week on Thursday February 15 is early dismissal day. Classes will be dismissed at 2:00 pm and buses will arrive at 2:10 pm

Chill Zone meets today at 1:15 in room 225. Please see Mrs. Campbell if you interested.

Grade 8 Baby Photos:
Please email a digital copy of your Grade 8 Baby Photo to Miss Cottier by March 18th to have it included in the year.  Miss Cottier's email is ecottier@sd63.bc.ca.

Grade 8 Ski Trip: Just a reminder that grade 8 ski trip forms are due in to Mr. Kenny this morning.

From the Learning Commons - ROMS made the front page of the Times Colonist this morning, with a photo story about our trek over to Brydon Park because of the gas leak. Check out this story, and others about what's going on in your world, on the bulletin board just inside the LC's front door.

Polar Expressions Writing Contest:
Ms. Lindsay is very pleased that several of our fellow ROMS students have made it into the second round of this Canada-wide writing contest. They beat out THOUSANDS of other entries with their stories and poems. Good luck to Samara D., Braesha E., Kyah R., Parisha S., Sofia M. and Nora W.

Rafiki Bracelets are back Tuesday! Special edition Valentine's Day and Pi Day Bracelets will be on sale for $10 each at Lunch until they are sold out!  All proceeds go towards are Ethiopia village initiative.

Science Challengers: Are you interested in Science?  Do you enjoying learning about how the world works?ROMS Science Challengers is looking for students from all grades who are interested in studying different aspects of science, technology, engineering, and math beyond the curriculum and then competing against other schools at a competition held at UVIC in May. Please attend an information meeting in Mr Azim's room at lunch activity time today. See you at 1:16

Athletics Leadership:
Reminder to all members of Athletic Leadership of your meeting today at Advisory. Please bring your lunch to the gym after block 3.


Next week's practice schedule for all teams will be posted on the Royal Oak Athletics webpage tonight, and game schedules and league rules can be found at lowerislandschoolsports.ca. Please have a look to see when your team is practising and playing next week. Players are reminded to confirm transportation arrangements to away game in advance and be able to tell their coach who is driving them to the game and home.

Today at FIRST recess there will be a mandatory meeting for all grade 6 and 7 girls on competitive teams in the gym to discuss transportation to next Tuesday's games. All players must attend.

Practicing later today are:

Coach Chris Yue's grade 8 girls team at lunch recess.

Mr. Sparanese's grade 7 girls team also at lunch recess.

Teams practicing after school today are:

Ms. Espedido's grade 7 girls team, and Coach Jim Smyth's grade 6 girls team.



Bus Registration: As of February 1st the School District 63 transportation department will no longer be accepting bus registrations for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact the Transportation Department at 250-652-7343 if you have any questions.

A reminder to parents to contact the ROMS Safe Arrival Line at 250-479-0999 or mailto:romssafearrival@sd63.bc.ca if your child will be absent or late.


Grade 8 Farewell Parent Meeting:
Feb 15th from 6-7pm is the second Grade 8 farewell organization meeting in
the learning commons room. This is for any grade 8 parent who would like
information regarding the year end celebration. All grade 8 parents welcome.

PAC Meeting: Please join us at the next PAC General Meeting on Thursday, February 15 at 7:00 pm in the Learning Commons as Claremont School Counselors will be there to provide information on the Grade 8 transition process, course selection and programs available at Claremont. Come, ask your questions and stay informed.

Grade 8 Farewell Bake Sale on February 14th

We are asking for grade 8 families to provide items to sell at a bake sale

cookies, cupcakes, or even chocolate strawberries!
