Chess Club:
Anyone interested in playing chess is welcome to play every Wednesday at lunch in room 230 (Mr Azim's room).  Students from all grades and skill levels are welcome.  Whether you are a beginner or a competitive chess player, stop in on Wednesday!

Drama Club:
Drama club meets today at advisory 12:46 in the Drama room. The entire cast are required to attend today. See you then!

Eagles Club: 

All Eagles Club members are reminded of our meeting today in Block 2. We will meet in Rm 215 beside the staff room. We have a special guest speaker coming to today. See you then. See Ms. Noel if you have any questions,

France Trip 2019:  All grade 7 students traveling to France next year, please meet in Mme Ryan's room at recess, at 11:23 today.

Grade 8 Baby Photos:
Please email a digital copy of your Grade 8 Baby Photo to Miss Cottier by March 18th to have it included in the year.  Miss Cottier's email is ecottier@sd63.bc.ca.

Science Challengers: Are you interested in Science?  Do you enjoying learning about how the world works?

ROMS Science Challengers is looking for students from all grades who are interested in studying different aspects of science, technology, engineering, and math beyond the curriculum and then competing against other schools at a competition held at UVIC in May. Please attend an information meeting in Mr Azim's room at lunch advisory on Friday.

Youth In Action:
The next Youth in Action meeting is tomorrow at 11:23am in Miss Cottier's room.

Popcorn: On sale at morning recess at the canteen. $1.50 per bag.

Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow -chicken wings, cookies & ice tea.

Pink Shirt Day: Feb 28th is pink shirt day, an anti-bullying day. If you are interested in purchasing a Think Pink t-shirt you can find order forms outside the office or on our school website. T-shirts are $15. each. Order deadline is Friday, February 9th. Size samples will be available starting tomorrow during lunch activity time in the main foyer.



This week's practice schedule for all teams has been posted on the Royal Oak Athletics web page, and game schedules and league rules can be found at lowerislandschoolsports.ca. Please have a look to see when your team is practicing and playing this week. Players are reminded to confirm transportation arrangements to away game in advance and be able to tell their coach who is driving them to the game and home.

Attention all grade 8 girl playing volleyball. There will be a mandatory meeting for all players today at FIRST recess in the gym to confirm transportation to away games later today. All grade 8 girls on both teams must attend.

Grade 6/7 Intra Murals:
In yesterday's game 3 of the green floor vs blue floor dungeon ball series, the blue floor made a statement. They won 12 - 1 have now brought the overall score in the series to 2 games to 1 game for the green floor. Let's see if they can tie it up next week.

Grade 8 Intra Murals:
Reminder to grade 8's to check the intra-mural dodge ball schedule for Wednesday's games. 



Registration 2018-19: Registration began, Monday, February 5th at 8:00 am for new students coming in from public and private schools out of district or out of catchment. Students who are currently registered and attending Lochside, Cordova Bay and Prospect do not need to complete a new registration form. Band registration forms are available on our website under Parents>forms> band music programs. Registration forms for enrollment are available on the school's main web page.

Claremont Open House: Thursday, February 8th from 6:00-8:00 pm. There will be short presentations in the Learning Commons on the various programs such as CSI, PEP, STEM, FOFA etc. Please visit the Claremont school website for more information.

Bus Registration: As of February 1st the School District 63 transportation department will no longer be accepting bus registrations for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact the Transportation Department at 250-652-7343 if you have any questions.

Grade 8 Farewell Parent Meeting:
Feb 15th from 6-7pm is the second Grade 8 farewell organization meeting in
the learning commons room. This is for any grade 8 parent who would like
information regarding the year end celebration. All grade 8 parents welcome.

PAC Meeting: Please join us at the next PAC General Meeting on Thursday, February 15 as Claremont School Counselors will be there to provide information on the Grade 8 transition process, course selection and programs available at Claremont. Come, ask your questions and stay informed.

Grade 8 Farewell Bake Sale on February 14th

We are asking for grade 8 families to provide items to sell at a bake sale

cookies, cupcakes, or even chocolate strawberries!

Intra murals:     Intra murals are on happening in the big gym today!  Be sure to listen to announcements and be there!

Ask your teacher question:  How many days until report card # 2!    

Olympic News:

The famous wrestler Milo was said to train by carrying a calf every day. As the calf grew heavier, his muscles got stronger. What an Interesting way to get strong for the Olympics!

Grade 8 Students:  Claremont is hosting a informational night on Feb 8th for it’s Programs of Choice.   Check out the Claremont website.   See attached schedule.
