Grade 8 Baby Photos: Please email a digital copy of your Grade 8 Baby Photo to Miss Cottier by March 18th to have it included in the year.  Miss Cottier's email is ecottier@sd63.bc.ca.

ROMS TV - today we start another two-week shift with Mikyla B., 6-5, Anika K., M-6 and Larkyn, 6-2 as our anchors and technician. Please come to the LC at 11 a.m. Teachers, please allow these students to leave block 2 early. Thanks.

From the Learning Commons - our winners from Friday, who brought their picture ID, were Victor, Nyomi, Elliot, Zaara, and Ciara. If any of those students did NOT receive their prize on Friday (and we know who you are), please come by today to pick it up. The winning number for today is 4. Play it safe - bring your picture ID (last year's works just fine!) 

Math Challengers: Math Challengers will meet today at 1:15 in Miss Cottier's room in preparation for the contest on February 16th.  Please come prepared with your booklet, a pencil, and a calculator.  New members welcome.

Conversation and Activities Club: Please join us for Conversations Club today in Room 227. Meet new friends, learn about other cultures, and practice your English. All students are welcome. Please see Ms. Beristain in room 219 for more information.

Popcorn: On sale at morning recess at the canteen. $1.50 per bag.


Reminder to members of Athletic Leadership of your meeting today during advisory. Please bring your lunch down to the gym after block 3 and help remind your fellow members to attend.

This week's practice schedule for all teams has been posted on the Royal Oak Athletics webpage, and game schedules and league rules can be found at lowerislandschoolsports.ca. Please have a look to see when your team is practicing and playing this week. Players are reminded to confirm transportation arrangements to away game in advance and be able to tell their coach who is driving them to the game and home.

Practicing later today are:

Mrs. Gill's and Mrs Blaikie's grade 6/7 rec girls team at lunch recess.

Mr. Sparanese's grade 7 girls rec team also at lunch recess.

After school, the grade 6 girls competitive teams practice along with the grade 6/7 boys competitive team.

There will be a very important meeting for all boys on the grade 8 boys competitive team today at FIRST recess to discuss your game later today. All players must attend.

Grade 6/7 Intermurals:

The green floor has jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the grade 6/7 intramural dungeonball series. Can the blue floor begin their comeback tomorrow at lunch recess? Mr. Menzies will be visiting classes tomorrow to advise the divisions who are scheduled to play in the next game.



Registration 2018-19: Registration begins today, Monday, February 5th at 8:00 am for new students coming in from public and private schools out of district or out of catchment. Students who are currently registered and attending Lochside, Cordova Bay and Prospect do not need to complete a new registration form. Band registration forms are available on our website under Parents>forms> band music programs. Registration forms for enrollment are available on the school's main web page.

Claremont Open House: Thursday, February 8th from 6:00-8:00 pm. There will be short presentations in the Learning Commons on the various programs such as CSI, PEP, STEM, FOFA etc. Please visit the Claremont school website for more information.

Bus Registration: As of February 1st the School District 63 transportation department will no longer be accepting bus registrations for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact the Transportation Department at 250-652-7343 if you have any questions.

PAC Meeting: Please join us at the next PAC General Meeting on Thursday, February 15 as Claremont School Counsellors will be there to provide information on the Grade 8 transition process, course selection and programs available at Claremont. Come, ask your questions and stay informed.

Grade 8 Farewell Bake Sale on February 14th

We are asking for grade 8 families to provide items to sell at a bake sale

cookies, cupcakes, or even chocolate strawberries!

Today is Monday February 5, and here’s the news about what’s happening at ROMS.  The weather calls for rain with a high of 7 degrees.  We want spring!  No more rain!

We are now more than halfway through the school year.  Let’s work hard in the final ½ of the year.   Set your goals high!!

Intramurals:     Intramurals are on the go again this week!  Be sure to listen to announcements to find out when your class plays!

Open House:  Our open house was a big success last Thursday..  A big thank you to all staff and students for making it a success.  

Recycling:  Let’s keep up the sorting efforts with the recycle stations.  We have improved over the last 2 months.
