Archery Club: A reminder that there is still room in the Archery Club. If you are interested in joining please see Mr. Kenny.

Chess Club:
Anyone interested in playing chess is welcome to play every today at lunch in Mr. Azim's room 230.  Students from all grades and skill levels are welcome.  Whether you are a beginner or a competitive chess player, stop in on Wednesday!

Drama Club: A reminder that Drama Club meets during advisory today in the drama room.  Only students cast in Scene 1 and Prologue need to attend today's rehearsal. See Ms Noel or Ms Buxcey if you have any questions. 

From the Learning Commons - Ms. Lindsay is very pleased to announce that North Saanich's library technician, Mrs. Ehman, will be joining us on Wednesdays for the next few weeks. When you come into the LC, please give her a good ROMS welcome!

ROMS TV News Crew:
ROMS TV - Next week we will be having a new ROMS TV crew starting. Would Liam T., M-3, Danyn F., M-1 and Cohen W., M-8, please come to the learning commons at 11 a.m., in block 2, to observe the current crew of Natasha C., 8-1, Macy H., 8-6 and Samara D., 6-4. We'll see you all in block 2 at 11 a.m.

ROMS Hoodies:
Final week to order your ROMS hoodie. Order forms and sample sizes are available at the PE office. Order deadline is this Friday to don't delay!

Popcorn: On sale at morning recess at the canteen. $1.50 per bag.

Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow -chicken wings, cookies & ice tea.


Athletic Leadership:
Reminder to members of Athletic Leadership who have signed up for the volleyball junior official's workshop today after school, the workshop runs from 4 - 6 after school today in our gym. Please bring 5 dollars and a whistle.


This week's practice schedule for all teams is posted on the ROMS Athletics web page. Please have a look to see when your team is set to practice next, as the schedule has been updated several times recently.

Game schedules for all teams will be posted on lowerislandschoolsprts.ca soon. All competitive teams will play their first game next week so please discuss transportation to away games. Players are reminded to hand your permission forms into Mr. Menzies ASAP.

Grade 8 Intra-Murals:
Notice to all grade 8 divisions to check the intra-mural dodge ball schedule on the PE board. Games start this today

Lost & Found: The Lost and found items are quickly mounting up again.   We just cleared up the the Lost and Found before the break and now it has over 42 items.  If your child is missing a clothing item, please come in and check the Lost & Found for it.

All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help
with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please
return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school
office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would

Today is Wednesday, January 17, and here’s the news about what’s happening at ROMS.  The weather calls for clouds with some rain showers and a high 11 degrees.  No more rain!  We want spring.    

There are now 14 days until we are halfway through the school year.   Remember what you heard in today’s assembly.


Did You know?

Bus passes:      If you still do not have a bus card,, your parents  need to register with the SBO transportation department ASAP.  Its free!

Assemblies: Today will be school wide assemblies.   Please keep the reminders from the assembly in your thoughts as you operate day to day at Royal Oak.

Intramurals:   Gym lunch dodgeball Intramurals have started this week.   Make sure your class is signed up.

Recycling:   Reminder to classes that Thursday, tomorrow,  is the day we do the blue bin paper recycling right at the end of block 3.  

World events question:  Who is coming to the winter Olympics now?  Talk to your teacher on that topic!  

Sports Question:  What  NBA basketball team is doing really well these days?  Mr Stanchfield knows this answer!    Hint Canada!!
