Drama Club:
All drama club members have their first rehearsal today in the drama room during advisory. Bring your lunch. Teachers have been informed of the rehearsal during instructional time. Please see Ms Noel or Ms Buxcey if you have any questions.


Math Challengers: The annual Math Challengers competition at UVIC is fast approaching.  Miss Cottier invites any Grade 8 that is interested in competing to an information meeting on Thursday at 11:23am in her classroom.  Practice booklets are available and Royal Oak has 10 spots for the competition.


Yearbook:
The ROMS 2017/2018 Yearbook is now available for Pre-Orders!  Don't miss your chance to guarantee yourself a one of a kind keepsake of all the memories, events, and moments of this school year! Order forms available from your homeroom teacher, Miss Cottier, or Miss Cottier's website. Yearbooks are $38 and all orders due no later than April 13th.


France Trip 2018: There is a meeting today at 1:15 in Mme Ryan's room.



The postponed December Learning Commons staff meeting is TODAY during advisory - ask your teacher to be excused, and bring your lunch to the LC. The meeting will last until about 1:15. 

Popcorn: On sale at morning recess at the canteen. $1.50 per bag.


Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow -chocolate chip cookies, mac & cheese & ice tea.


Playground Structure: The new play structure will  be open today at recess and lunch for all grades.  If it becomes too crowded, we will have to limit one grade.


ROMS SPORTS:


Volleyball:
The volleyball practice schedule has been updated on the athletics web page. Recreational practice times are starting to be added, so please check in frequently for practice times.

Practicing this afternoon are the grade 6/7 boys competitive team, and the grade 8 boys competitive team.

There will be a meeting for all grade 8 volleyball players today at first recess in the gym. All players are asked to attend.

Come out to our next PAC meeting at 7 pm on Thursday, January 18th. We are excited to announce that our new School District 63 Superintendent Dave Eberwein will be attending our meeting. Thrifty Foods Smile Cards:

All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help
with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please
return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school
office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would

Today is Monday, January 10, and here’s the news about what’s happening at ROMS.  The weather calls for cloudy skies with a high 7 degrees.

There are now 16 days until we are halfway through the school year.   This is a great time to be asking your teachers how you are doing this term,

Did You know?

Fun Geography Facts about Canada

  • Canada is the second largest country in the world.

  • The highest tides in the world occur in the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick.

  • The capital of Canada is Ottawa, the second coldest capital in the world.

Playground:   The new play structure will  be open today at recess and lunch for all grades.  The old structure is supposed to be repaired this week.   Keep your fingers crossed.

Learning Commons:  As you know the LC is open in the mornings before school.  Reminder that there is no longer any any on-line gaming or electronic device usage prior to school in the LC

Pizza day: 2 days to our very first Friday Pizza day for 2018!  

Bus passes: Always have your bus card ready to scan as you load the bus.  We are still waiting for the new bus cards to arrive.  We  the new passes arrive, we will get them to you.

Intra murals:   Gym lunch Intramurals will be starting up again this week.  If you have not been part of intramurals,  stay tuned for announcements.

Recycling:  The recycling stations are open and in full operation.   Please bring your recycle tower down during advisory presorted.   The better you sort your recyclables, the easier it is for the recycle team.
