Morning Radio News @ 9:05 am

Band Sectionals:

There is a grade 6 Percussion sectional today at 12:46 in the Band room. Please bring your lunch.

Vocale Ensemble:
There is a Vocal Ensemble rehearsal today at 1:15 in the Band room!

Boys Group & Girls Group:
Today we will skate at Pearkes Recreation Centre. Please bring your lunch and helmet and meet Ms.Broome and Mr. Mollard at the blue conference at 11:10 am. Don't forget to dress warm. See you there!

Music In the Hallways:
The Music department is going to spread some music cheer during Advisory and Activity time next week. Students need to sign-up for Music in the Hallways by Wednesday December 13th. Please see the Band bulletin board for the sign-up sheet. Music in the hallways is open to students who are not in band as well! Please see Mrs. Galvao if you have any questions. 

Youth In Action:
There is a Youth in Action meeting on Thursday at 11:23am in Miss Cottier's room.  

There is no Judo today.  Our last practice for the fall will be next Tuesday.

Canteen Tuesday: For sale today at first recess is mac & cheese, cookies and hot chocolate.

Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,


The week's volleyball team selection practice schedule for all competitive teams is posted on the ROMS Athletics web page. Please have a look to see when practices will be taking place.

Practicing after school today, are the grade 6 girls competitive team from 3:15 - 4:30. All grade 6 girls interested and are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Team-mate Jersey Day:
This Friday, December 15th is Teammate Jersey Day! Please come dressed in any athletic jersey or uniform, and take part in this fun school spirit building event. At 1:15 on Friday, members of the ROMS staff will be taking on the grade 7/8 boys and girls competitive teams in a basketball game that is sure to be thrilling and entertaining! Wear your athletic jersey this Friday and join the fun!

Grade 6/7 Intra Murals:
The final regular season indoor soccer match for grade 6/7 intra murals is today! Teams playing today are: 7-3, M8, 6-2, and 6-3. Playoffs begin next week for qualifying teams. These will be announced and posted after today's matches.

Grade 8 Intra Murals:
The Cup is on the line! Wednesday at lunch come and watch 8-1 and 8-2 battle it out for the first intra-mural championship of the year.

Report Card Envelopes: Just a reminder to parents to please remember to return signed report card envelopes to the homeroom teacher as soon as possible.

Lost & Found: Once again the lost and found is bursting at the seams. Please check for your lost or missing items as soon as possible. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity by the end of the day on Thursday, December 14th. Don't miss out !!

Purdy's Chocolate Order Pick-Up:

Please make plans to pick up your Purdy's chocolates orders on Monday, December 11th between 2:30-3:30 pm ONLY. There will be a PAC representative set up in the main foyer of the school.

Thrifty Foods Smile Cards:

All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help
with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please
return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school
office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would

Today is Tuesday, December 12 and here’s the news about what’s happening at Royal Oak.  The weather calls for clouds with some clear sunny skies and a high 11 degrees.   That’s pretty sweet weather for December!  

There are now 13 days until the big guy with parcels comes in his sleigh!   Be sure you are nice to your teachers as Santa knows everything!


Did you know:

  • goldfish can see both infrared and ultraviolet light

  • the smallest bones in the human body are found in your ear

  • cats spend 66% of their life asleep

Lost & Found:  Check the growing lost and found items!   The pile has become absolutely huge!  There are 38 water bottle and 26 pairs of running shoes in the L and F.     Items unclaimed by Friday will be donated to charity.   

Playground:   The new playground structure should be ready this week!  The workers are currently finishing up the wood frame to hold in the wood chips.      We are told that it should be ready for Thursday of this week.  You have to be excited about this!  

Pizza day: 3 days to Friday Pizza!  Only 2 pizza days left in 2017.

Sports equipment:  If you borrow a ball from Mr Menzies in the gym, please make sure you return it.    If you find ball on the field, please return it to the gym.

School Grounds:  Are looking fairly good!  Keep up your effort in keeping our environment clean.

Intra murals:  are on for the grade 6 and 7’s.  Be sure to come out and watch!  

Report Cards:  Report cards went home on Friday.   Be sure the envelope comes back   signed!

Sock Bombs:  Remember to keep building your class sock bombs!  This is our chance to help those in need especially at this time of the year!  

Bus passes:  Be sure to keep your bus pass is safe.  Students who have just registered, will hopefully be getting a card soon.  There is a backlog at the school board office.


Jersey Day on on Dec 15th!  Make sure you have your Jersey ready to go for Friday!


Music in the Hallway:  Starting next week, you will hear our band students playing Holiday music in the hallways!
