Band Sectionals:
There is a grade 6 flute, Clarinet and violin sectional today at 12:46 in the band room. Please bring your lunch!

Band Concert:
Students who are taking part in the Winter concert have a dress rehearsal today. Please check the schedule posted outside the band room! 

Craft Club: Today at 1:15 in the Art Room. See Ms. Ozi for details.

Boys Group: A Reminder that there is a Boys' Group meeting today at the beginning of advisory in the Blue Conference Room. 

We'll be having a new ROMS TV crew starting next week. Would Grace S, 7-1 and James M., 6-3, please come to the Learning Commons at 11 am. to get training. Thanks.

Paper Recycling Day:

A reminder that it is paper recycling day today. Please make sure that you send a student down with your recycling to the bins at the beginning of Advisory.

Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow -chicken wings, cookies & hot chocolate

Pizza Day tomorrow - $2.50 per slice


Congratulations to the senior girls basketball team on a successful season. This talented group of girls played hard throughout the season and, despite a setback, came together in the playoffs to make Royal Oak proud!! Way to go girls!

Good luck to the grade 6/7 boys competitive team today as they compete in the City Finals at Central Middle School. Go Eagles!

Attention all Royal Oak students! The 2018 volleyball season is right around the corner and we will be having the introductory meeting for all students interested in playing today. Anyone interested in playing volleyball this year is asked to come to the Multi Purpose Room at FIRST recess to receive introductory season information. See you there!


***A reminder that all practice schedules are posted on the ROMS Athletic web page. Games are listed on the lowerislandschoolsports.ca It is your responsibility to know when your team practices or has a game scheduled.

Purdy's Chocolate Order Pick-Up:

Please make plans to pick up your Purdy's chocolates orders on Friday, December 8th or Monday, December 11th between 2:30-3:30 pm ONLY. There will be a PAC representative set up in the main foyer of the school.

Thrifty Foods Smile Cards:

All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help
with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please
return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school
office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would

Today is Thursday, December 7 and here’s the news about what’s happening at Royal Oak.  The weather calls for sunny skies and a high 8 degrees.    Sunshine is the best!

This is our last month of school in 2017 and  there are now 18 days until the big guy and his reindeer comes in his sleigh   Be sure to clean your room tonight as Santa knows!


Did you know:

  • If you try to not catch someone's yawn, the urge will be so strong that you will probably yawn yourself without even knowing it.

Lost & Found:  Check the lost and found for your lost items today.  Items unclaimed by the holiday break will be donated to charity.  The rack is filling up big time!

Playground:   The new playground structure is almost ready.    We are still waiting for wood  chips.  We are told that it should be ready for next week!  Keep tuned.  

Remember tomorrow is Pizza day!  Only 3 pizza days left in 2017.

School Grounds:  has your class been out on a grounds clean up lately?   If not, we are not changing the environment where we live and play.

Reminder that there is no ROMS news tomorrow.  

Report Cards:   Report cards will go home this Friday.   Be sure the envelope comes back signed next week.

Bus passes:  Be sure to keep your bus pass is a safe place.  Students who have just registered, will be getting a card soon.  Do not hole punch them.
