Reading Race Canada:
Reading tallies from last week were still coming in to Ms. Lindsay yesterday. She is now happy to announce that Mr. Ball's class, div. 6-5, is the WINNER, with an appropriately amazing 8235 pages read. That's the equivalent of crossing Canada to Victoria, up and down Vancouver Island, and back up to Parksville! Mr. Ball's students will be receiving their treat on Monday. A big thanks to ALL classes who participated - keep reading!
There is an important meeting in the art room at recess today for all members of last year's archery club. If you were a member of the archery club last year, and wish to continue with us this year, please be in the art room promptly at the start of first recess.
There is a percussion sectional during advisory in the band room. Please bring your lunch.
There is a Stage band rehearsal today at 1:16 in the band room. All members must attend!

France Trip 2018: Announcement: All grade 8 students traveling to France this year please meet in Mme. Ryan's room at 1:15 today.

Expressions Writing Contest:
This is a reminder for all of our budding authors who are writing short stories for the Polar Expressions writing contest - your entries are due in to Ms. Lindsay a week from TODAY, that's next Thursday, November 30. Need help with grammar, punctuation or something else? She'll be happy to help you, at recess or lunch.
Attention all Royal Oak students! Eagles hoodies, sweatpants, long sleeve shirts, and shorts will be available for order all of next week. Order forms will be available outside the PE office and on the Royal Oak Athletics web page! Please come to the PE office to try on sample sizes. Order forms will only be accepted next week, so don't delay!

Pizza and Pellegrino Day today - Classes will be called in the following order: Wolf hallway will go first as a reward for cleaning all four zones of the school grounds last Friday, Thank you Wolf hallway. Then Thunderbird, Raven & Orca.

Athletic Leadership: Reminder to Athletic Leadership of your meeting later today during advisory in the gym.
This week's practice schedule for all teams has been posted on the Royal Oak Athletics web page, and game schedules and league rules can be found at lowerislandschoolsports.ca. Please have a look to see when your team is practicing and playing this week. Players are reminded to confirm transportation arrangements to away game in advance and be able to tell their coach who is driving them to the game and home.
There will be a very important meeting for the grade 6/7 boys recreational team, today at FIRST recess in the gym. All players who are planning on playing at North Saanich later today must attend.
Congratulations to the grade 7/8 girls competitive team on their win at Bayside lat night. Great work Eagles!!
The girls competed in their second jamboree last night, congratulations girls on two well played games! Our last practice will be Monday morning at 8am sharp.

Staff at Royal Oak are working hard to keep our students focused and engaged during class time. Consequently, we are trying to minimize disruptions while the students are in session.
You can help us by:
1. Asking your son/daughter to remember appointment times/ early pick ups, rather than having office staff to buzz into the class during instructional time.
2. Calling the absence line at 250-479-0999 or emailing email@example.com to report planned absences or early pick ups.
We understand that sometimes life is unpredictable and are happy to pass along urgent or necessary messages during recess and lunch activity. However, if we can keep these messages to a minimum, it supports our focus on student learning and growth.
Thank you for continuing to partner with us for all of the students' education.

grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to
with PAC Fund raising. If your family is not intending to use it, please
return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school
office. In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would
