Band Sectionals: There is a Clarinet, Flute and Violin sectional today during advisory. Please bring your lunch!

Vocale Ensemble:
There is a Vocal Ensemble rehearsal today at 1:15 in the band room! All members must attend!

Girls Group:
Rotation 2 will meet at the Blue Conference during Advisory for some board games, snacks, and hot chocolate. See you there!

Polar Expressions Writing Contest: From the learning commons - the deadline for short story entries in the writing contest is THURSDAY, November 30 - that's a week from this coming Thursday. If you want help with proofreading, Ms. Lindsay is happy to help with that, before school, at recess and at lunch. More reminders will be coming along as we get closer to the date. 

Student ID Cards:
From the Learning Commons - we want to speed up the process of signing out books for you. You can help us with this by bringing your picture ID - your ROMS student ID. Keep it in your locker and bring it with you when you want to sign out a book. 

France Trip 2018: There will be no France meeting today , it will be on Thursday instead. 

Judo: A reminder to that Judo club is today after school in the MPR from 3:15-4:45 pm. See Mr. Mollard if you cannot attend.

Youth In Action: There is an important Youth in Action meeting on Thursday @ 11:23am in Miss Cottier's room to discuss out upcoming We Are Rafiki campaign!  

Homework Club: There will be no homework club this Wednesday Nov. 22nd

Canteen Tuesday: There are no regular canteen sales today.

Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,



Players are reminded to confirm transportation arrangements to away game in advance and be able to tell their coach who is driving them to the game and home.

Congratulations on another win for the Eagles 7/8 girls! It was a tough battle from beginning to end but the team pulled off a 17 –14 win against Cedar Hill. Way to hang in there girls! The team takes on Bayside in their final regular season game on Wednesday. Go Eagles!

The grade 6/7 competitive boys team play today after school again Spencer. Good luck today boys!

Grade 6/7 Intra murals:
The next match for the grade 6/7 indoor soccer intra murals is today at SECOND recess. Divisions 7-1, 6-2, M-3, and M-4 are set to play today and are asked to come to the gym right after advisory.

Grade 8 Intra Murals: Notice to grade 8's to be responsible teenagers and check the intra-mural indoor soccer playoff schedule on the PE bulletin board.


***A reminder that all practice schedules are posted on the ROMS Athletic web page. Games are listed on the lowerislandschoolsports.ca It is your responsibility to know when your team practices or has a game scheduled.

Staff at Royal Oak are working hard to keep our students focused and engaged during class time. Consequently, we are trying to minimize disruptions while the students are in session.

You can help us by:

1. Asking your son/daughter to remember appointment times/ early pick ups, rather than having office staff to buzz into the class during instructional time.

2. Calling the absence line at 250-479-0999 or emailing romssafearrival@sd63.bc.ca to report planned absences or early pick ups.

We understand that sometimes life is unpredictable and are happy to pass along urgent or necessary messages during recess and lunch activity. However, if we can keep these messages to a minimum, it supports our focus on student learning and growth.

Thank you for continuing to partner with us for all of the students' education.

Purdy's Chocolates:

PURDY'S Chocolatier Fund raiser begins today. Purdy's chocolates are made fresh in Vancouver from only 100% sustainable cocoa. This program gives 25% of the sales back to the School PAC. Thrifty Foods Smile Cards:

All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help
with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please
return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school
office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would

Today is Monday, November 21 and here’s the news about what’s happening at ROMS.  The weather calls for wet skies and with a high of 8 degrees.  The sunshine came out at 11 am today!  Yes!

Did you know?

  • Canada has ten provinces and three territories.

  • Canada has the longest coastline of any country in the world at 243,977 kilometres  

Friday is a Pro D day which means school is not in session.  This is a good chance to get that school project finished.

Royal Oak swim club!  Well done swimmers at the swim meet on Sunday!    Impressive efforts by all swimmers.

Rain days, please do not go out and get soaking wet as you need to come back in and perform well in school  Sitting in wet clothes is not comfortable.  

Pizza Day will be this Thursday as Friday!  Remember your money if you plan on buying pizza and a Pellegrino drink!

Recycling:   Please make sure your class tower is sorted before you come down to the recycle station.  All items missorted end up in the land fill.


Grade 8 Intra Murals are on today in the gym.   Be sure to come out and cheer on your class team!
