Media Release from Saanich Police Department:
On November 15 @ 1626 hrs, the Saanich Police received a report of a bear sighting in the Colquitz Creek Trail near Mann Ave and Glanford Ave. We conducted an extensive search of the area, but failed to locate a bear or any other witnesses. Conservation Officers were notified, but did not attend. Area residents are advised to use caution while walking in the area and to secure small pets.

Band Sectionals:
There is a grade 6 saxophone sectional today during advisory in the the band room. Please bring your lunch.

Stage Band:
There is a Stage Band rehearsal today at 1:16 in the band room.

Boys Group: Reminder about Boys' Group Meeting at the Beginning of Advisory in the Blue Conference Room.

Chill Zone: Need a quiet place to hang out during lunch activity time? The chill zone is starting back up and their first meeting will be tomorrow at 1:15 in room 225. See Ms. Campbell for more details.

Craft Club: Today at 1:15 in the Art Room. See Ms. Ozi for details.

France Trip 2018: All grade 8 students traveling to France this year, meet in Mme. Ryan's room at 1:15 today.

Grade 8 Hoodies: Tomorrow is the deadline to order your Grade 8 hoodie. Forms available outside the office.

From the Learning Commons - the Amazing Reading Race is really heating up - Ms. Lindsay expects to see a winner in the next two weeks - who will it be? It's not too late to help your class get closer to the finish line. Keep reading!

And next time you're in the LC, check out the display board by the entrance - we have comics and a new feature called 'What's Going On?' Stories and photos about cool stuff happening everywhere. The first display includes a review of the new movie "Wonder". Check it out!

Congratulations on another dominating win for the eagles 7/8 competitive girls! The team played hard from the opening tip-off to the final buzzer to beat PCS 41-14. It was their strongest team effort so far this year.  Way to go girls!

Gr 8 Boys Competitive:
The gr. 8 boys basketball team played another hard fought, close  game last night but again did not get the result they were looking for.  Nevertheless, the boys are improving and Mr. Sparanese was proud of their efforts.  Next practice tomorrow morning at 8 am.

Google Docs Training

Thursday, November 16th

5:45-6:45 pm in the Learning Commons

We will be hosting a Google Docs training session for parents and guardians prior to the PAC meeting today from 5:45-6:45 pm in the Learning Commons. Google educators will share their knowledge and help us learn the technology and terminology that is being used in the classrooms. This is a hands on workshop, bring your own device or use a computer from the Learning Commons. Come learn with us!

Our general PAC meeting will begin at 7:00 pm - We have a special guest speaker attending – Jennifer Gibson from Island Sexual Health will be attending the PAC meeting from 7:00-8:00 pm. Jennifer is a renowned sexual health educator who is known for supporting parents as students change and grow.

Join us for one or both informative sessions – this is an excellent opportunity to learn!

Purdy's Chocolates:

Thrify Smile Cards:

All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help
with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please
return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school
office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would

Today is Thursday, November 16 and here’s the news about what’s happening at ROMS.  The weather calls for more of those cloudy clouds and with a high of 9 degrees.   Where is the sun we are all asking?

Did you know that Ms Noel turns 29 years old today?  Happy birthday Ms. Noel.

Grade 8’s  order a grade 8 hoodie!  The last order will go in on Nov 17.  

The Amazing Reading Race Contest is still on in the Learning Commons.  Check out the LC for further details.

Chromebook carts are now in the hallways.   Please make sure your class has the cart booked before you take it.  Please no going to the cart and asking for one or two Chromebooks.  The cart goes out as a unit.

Gym strip:  Always remember to have your gym strip at school and be sure to have it washed on a regular basis.  The Lost and Found is full of mostly gym strip items.

Recycling:   Keep it up Royal Oak, we are improving on the station sorting.  Thank you for that!   Great to see so many students bringing in reusable containers.    This really reduces the amount of recycling.


Remember tomorrow is Pizza day!  Pizza is $250 a slice!  


As temperatures drop, remember to bring your coat as outside days will continue i our colder days.
