Remembrance Day Assembly:

A reminder to all students participating in the presentation of the Remembrance Day assembly to please come to the gym immediately following home room for a dress rehearsal. Don't forget that the bell schedule is modified today.

Loading the gym: Ms. Hunter will come to your classroom when it is your turn to load the gym.

Parents and members of the Royal Oak Community are invited to attend our Remembrance Day assembly that will take place today from 11:00-11:45 am. Please remember that parking may be at prime so please allow yourself time to find a parking space. Please arrive by 10:45 am.

Amazing Reading Race Canada:

From the Learning Commons - after two weeks of the Amazing Reading Race Canada, Ms. Cliche's class is in the lead with 4864 pages read, Mrs. Gill's class isn't far behind, at 4651 km. Who'll get to Victoria first? Help your class out - read during silent reading time! Teachers, please update your totals today or early next week.

Please meet Ms. Galvao in the Band room at the beginning of block 2 to pick up your instrument.

A reminder to these students - Macy H, 8-6, Serena Z., 8-7 and Anika K., M-6, you're scheduled to do ROMS TV when we return to school on Tuesday, Nov. 14. That's Macy, Serena and Anika - see you at 11 a.m. in the Learning Commons.

Athletic Leadership:

Reminder to all athletic leadership students of your weekly meeting today during advisory. Please bring your lunch to the gym after block 3 today and help remind your fellow leaders about the meeting.


Congratulations to the 6/7 boys recreational basketball team on their performance yesterday at St. Joseph's. The Eagles played well in their first jamboree and had lots of fun!

The grade 7/8 girls competitive team will be having an additional practice today after school.

Next week's practice schedule will be posted later today on the ROMS athletics web page. Please have a look to confirm when your team will be practicing next week. Also, go to lowerislandschoolsports.ca for league details and game schedules for all teams and sports.

Google Docs Training

Thursday, November 16th

5:45-6:45 pm in the Learning Commons

We will be hosting a Google Docs training session for parents and guardians prior to the PAC meeting on Thursday, November 16th from 5:45-6:45 pm in the Learning Commons. Google educators will share their knowledge and help us learn the technology and terminology that is being used in the classrooms. This is a hands on interactive session.  Bring your own device or use computers in the Learning Commons.   Come learn with us!

Our general PAC meeting will begin at 7:00 pm - We have a special guest speaker attending – Jennifer Gibson from Island Sexual Health will be attending the PAC meeting from 7:00-8:00 pm. Jennifer is a renowned sexual health educator who is known for supporting parents as students change and grow.

Join us for one or both informative sessions – this is an excellent opportunity to learn!

Purdy's Chocolates:

Thrify Smile Cards:

All grade 6 students have been given a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to help
with PAC Fund raising.  If your family is not intending to use it, please
return it to the school by dropping it into the PAC box outside the school
office.  In that way, we can re-assign it to someone else. If you would
