ROMS TV News:

S1: Hello! I’m Kaitlin. Today is Thursday, November 2nd. Welcome to today's edition of ROMS TV.

The weather forecast for today is 9 degrees Celsius and rain. Tonight's forecast is for more rain, and followed tomorrow by – you guessed it.

Today's weird but true animal fact is: the eastern spotted skunk does a handstand before it sprays.

Okay, on to today’s news – The Youth in Action ‘We Scare Hunger” campaign winds up tomorrow.. Our goal is to collect one thousand cans (or other non-perishable food items) for the local food bank. Thunderbird, at this time, is out in front, but don't count out the other three hallways just yet! The Orca hallway owes a BIG  thank you to Zarah and Shayna, who went out collecting in their neighbourhood yesterday. Last day to donate is tomorrow – don't forget!

The Amazing Reading Race Canada is nearing the end of its second week. So far, Mr. Ball's class, 6-5, appears to be in the lead, with 2168 pages read, which translates to 2168 km down the Trans Canada Highway. Mrs. Buxcey's class, M-1, is in second place with 2031 kilometers down the road. Five other class' markers are at some point on the highway; everyone else is still in St. John's, Newfoundland, because Ms. Lindsay hasn't heard from teachers about their class' totals. Remember, it's only 20 minutes of silent reading time each day that's counting, to make a level playing field – but do keep reading, everything after that 20 minutes is good stuff!

And now over to _________

Are you a major league baseball fan? Last night the Houston Astros, in Texas, won their first-ever World Series title. They forced the series, 4 games to 3, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The score of the final game was 5 to 1.

Here's something special happening everywhere tomorrow – it'll be Random Acts of Kindness Day. Think about what you can do – hold a door open for someone? Pick up that piece of garbage in the hallway that you know you didn't drop? Pay a sincere compliment to someone? Let's all practice kindness tomorrow – a great way to finish off the week!  Well, that’s it for today. Thanks for joining us, and stay safe tonight while you’re having fun!
