Costumes: Just a reminder that costumes can be worn to school on October 31 only. Please do not wear your costume to school until then. Mr. Bergeron will be coming around to the classrooms to discuss your costume designs!!

France Trip 2018: Reminder that all grade 8 students traveling to France have a meeting today at 1:15 in Mme. Ryan's room. 

Popcorn: On sale at morning recess at the canteen. $1.50 per bag.

Learning Commons:
From the Learning Commons - Happy DEAR Day! For the last 20 minutes of block 3 today, we're asking everyone to Drop Everything And Read. While this is happening, Ms. Lindsay will be coming around with details about our new reading contest, the Amazing Reading Race Canada. See you in block 3!

Apples for Maya Fund raiser Caramel apples will be on sale on Thursday during both morning recess and at lunch activity time. $3 for a caramel apple, and $4 for a decorated caramel apple!

Lost & Found: Please check the lost & found for your missing items as it is over flowing. Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of the day on Thursday, October 26th.

Halloween Spooktacular: (Ghost/Halloween noises) . . . . . . . Come join us for a SPOOKTACULAR time at Claremont Secondary School on Friday October 27th. Royal Oak students have special time to attend from 5 - 6:30pm. Tickets are $10 each and will be sold outside the office during lunch activity time every day this week. Don't miss out on this Eerie Event. 


Athletic Leadership:
The Athletic Leadership Green Squad is reminded to visit classes today who are scheduled to play in 6/7 intramurals today. Also, any AL members who can help with organizing PE strip orders are asked to come to the gym during advisory today.


The 2017 basketball season officially starts this week for all competitive teams. Players are reminded to discuss transportation arrangements to their away games with their parents.

The grade 7/8 girls team is reminded of their practice today during second recess. All players must attend and must be able to tell their coach how they are getting to today's game.

Practicing after school today is the grade 6/7 girls recreational team with coach Jim. Please be there by 3:15 and the practice will end at 4:15.

Tomorrow morning the grade 6/7 Boys recreational tea practices with Mr. Menzies at 8:00.

Grade 8 Boys Competitive:
There is a meeting today at first recess in Mr. Sparanese's room 130 to discuss transportation to today's game at Dunsmuir. All players must attend. Good luck today Eagles!

Wednesday morning 8am---practice, shoot around, followed by the first  home game of the year after school vs Gordon Head at 3:15 SPECTATORS WELCOME

Miraculous Maya:

One of Royal Oak Middle School's precious treasures, Maya and her family need our help. Maya suffers from a rare genetic disorder called MPS. She is currently in Children's hospital in Vancouver recovering from open heart surgery and is waiting to have surgery on both hips. Coupon Books: Notices have been sent home to families who have not yet returned their money or coupon book. Please submit your $25 or return the coupon book to the office as soon as possible.

Thrifty Smile Cards:

We have been accepted by Thrifty Foods to take part in their Smile Card
Program to earn up to $2500 this school year!  Thrifty Foods will give 5%
of what you spend on groceries to our school!  As in the last few years,
the PAC will be sending out a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to each grade 6
family.   The card is easy and free to use - you pre-load it with an amount
of your choice and use it like a cash card.  If you don't want to use your
card, please return it to the PAC Box outside the office. Thanks for
your support!
