Cops 4 Cancer:
Congratulations Royal Oak.  We raised over $5500 with our Terry Fox and COPS for Cancer fund raising efforts.  It is great to be a part of a giving school.   

The Thunderbird hallway will receive their Ice cream treat on Thursday for raising the most money.   All four hallways did an excellent job with their donations!  On Friday, the dunk tank will be here for the 10 brave staff members that challenged RO students to raise $5000 or more.  We did it Royal Oak! 

Vocale Ensemble: There is a Vocal Ensemble Rehearsal today at 1:15. New members are still welcome!

Band Sectionals:
There is a grade 6 trumpet sectional today at 12:46 in the Band room. Please bring your lunch!

Girls Group:
Today's meeting is for Rotation 2 which is Div 62, 65, M1, M6 and 84. We are going to make SLIME! We will have all the materials you need to make the fluffiest, prettiest, grossest slime ever. Please bring your lunch and a container to put your slime in afterwards. We will meet at the Blue Conference during advisory. See you there!

From the Learning Commons: Ms. Lindsay and Ms. Gaudet have been getting many requests for computers to do homework at recess and lunch every day, lately, so from now on, ALL computers are reserved for students wishing to do homework during recess and lunch.

Are you a tekky kind of girl or guy? Would you be interested in helping out with ROMS TV? Come sign up in the LC at recess today. Newscasters, please come at recess tomorrow 

Every hallway has a zone that they are responsible to help keep clean.  If your class has not been out, we are asking that you take this task to keep our grounds clean.  Oct 19th the judges will be out and the hall with the cleanest zone goes first for pizza. 

There is no Judo practice today after school.

Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,

Athletic Leadership:
There will be a brief but important meeting for all members of Athletic Leadership today at FIRST recess in the gym. Please be there on time and help remind your fellow members to attend, and be sure to hand in your forms to Mr. Menzies ASAP.


Any gr 8 boys interested in being part of the Competitive Team this year is asked to attend 2 tryouts: Wed morn an then again Friday morning at 8:00am  Please see Mr. Sparanese if you are unable to attend.

Cross Country:
A reminder to all athletes of the Meet this Thursday at Cedar Hill Rec. Center. We will be discussing rides at the practice on Wednesday morning. If you are unable to attend this practice, please speak to Ms. Wheatley or Mrs. Smyth prior to Thursday.  


The grade 7/8 girls soccer practice has been canceled tomorrow after school. Please see Mrs. Broome or Mr. Menzies if you have any questions

Swim Club:
We are still looking for parent volunteers to help with supervision at practices, allowing the season to happen. Please contact Mr. Menzies if you are able to help. All students are still able and welcome and encouraged to join and permission packages can be found at the PE office.

***A reminder that all practice schedules are posted on the ROMS Athletic webpage. It is your responsibility to know when your team practices or has a game scheduled.



Miraculous Maya:

One of Royal Oak Middle School's precious treasures, Maya and her family need our help. Maya suffers from a rare genetic disorder called MPS. She is currently in Children's hospital in Vancouver recovering from open heart surgery and is waiting to have surgery on both hips. Swim Club Volunteers:

We are in need of parent supervisors for practices, in order for us to run the Royal Oak swim program this year. Parents, please contact Mr. Menzies if you are able to help.

Grade 6 immunizations

Recently immunization consent packages for grade 6 students were sent home from the school. If you have not already done so, please return the completed consent form to the school in a sealed envelope as soon as possible. Students in grade 6 will be offered immunizations in school-based clinics with the consent of a parent(s) or representative. Please contact the local Health Unit at  250-544-2400 and ask to speak with a Public Health Nurse if you have any questions. Immunizations will be provided at the school for grade 6 students on October 24, 2017.

Coupon Books: Please hand in your coupon book orders or return the coupon book to the office asap.

Please complete information forms package and return them to Homeroom teacher asap.

Thrifty Smile Cards:

We have been accepted by Thrifty Foods to take part in their Smile Card
Program to earn up to $2500 this school year!  Thrifty Foods will give 5%
of what you spend on groceries to our school!  As in the last few years,
the PAC will be sending out a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to each grade 6
family.   The card is easy and free to use - you pre-load it with an amount
of your choice and use it like a cash card.  If you don't want to use your
card, please return it to the PAC Box outside the office. Thanks for
your support!

A reminder that our next PAC meeting is on Thursday, October 19th at 7:00 pm in the Learning Commons. This meeting is an important meeting as it is our budget meeting. Please come out and support your PAC and have a voice on where money is allocated within the school community.
