Cops for Cancer:
Today is our final day for Cancer Fundraising. All funds raised go to both the Terry Fox and COPS for Cancer foundations.
Please remember to send all money to the office after homeroom!!!
The Tour de Rock team will be here at 12:12 today to accept our cheque from our fund raiser efforts. We are asking classes to bring all fund raising money to the office after announcements today. All students go to their block 3 class today where we will call you down to the gym for the assembly.
Learning Commons: Today's LC Crew members are Sage, Anna and Parisha. Please arrive by 1:20. Monday's crew members will have the day off!
ROMS TV Tryouts:
It's time to get ROMS TV off the ground! We are looking for interested tech people to come to a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Listen to morning announcements on TUESDAY for more details. We're also looking for announcers - will that be YOU?
Grade 8 Hoodies: Today is the last day to order your Grade 8 hoodie. A parent will be outside the front office today at lunch with hoodie size samples to try on. No late orders will be accepted.

Congratulations to the x-country team who raced yesterday at Beaver Lake park. There were many fine performances and great sportsmanship shown. Special thanks to Avery, Macey and Ava from Students council here at ROMS who helped marshall the course. The next practice is next Tuesday morning at 8:15 to work off all that turkey dinner and pumpkin pie!
There will be an important meeting today for all students joining the swim team this year at FIRST recess in the multi-purpose room. Any students interested in swimming are welcome to attend. Return your permission forms to Mr. Menzies as soon as possible. First swim practice is Tuesday morning at 7:30am.
Basketball: Today is the first all-girls team selection practice for all students interested in playing basketball. The grade 7/8 competitive team and the grade 6/7 competitive team coaches will be holding the practice today at SECOND recess int he gym. All girls interested in playing on a competitive team this year must attend or contact Mr. Menzies if they cannot.
There will be a meeting for all athletic leadership applicants, today during advisory in the gym. Please bring your lunch and be there on time.
ROMS PARENT REVIEW:
One of Royal Oak Middle School's precious treasures, Maya and her family need our help. Maya suffers from a rare genetic disorder called MPS. She is currently in Children's hospital in Vancouver recovering from open heart surgery and is waiting to have surgery on both hips. Swim Club Volunteers:
We are in need of parent supervisors for practices, in order for us to run the Royal Oak swim program this year. Parents, please contact Mr. Menzies if you are able to help.
Grade 6 immunizations
MONDAY OCTOBER 2ND.
Recently immunization consent packages for grade 6 students were sent home from the school. If you have not already done so, please return the completed consent form to the school in a sealed envelope as soon as possible. Students in grade 6 will be offered immunizations in school-based clinics with the consent of a parent(s) or representative. Please contact the local Health Unit at 250-544-2400 and ask to speak with a Public Health Nurse if you have any questions. Immunizations will be provided at the school for grade 6 students on October 24, 2017.
Coupon Books: Please hand in your coupon book orders or return the coupon book to the office asap.
Please complete information forms package and return them to Homeroom teacher asap.

Thrifty Smile Cards:
have been accepted by Thrifty Foods to take part in their Smile
Program to earn up to $2500 this school year! Thrifty Foods will give 5%
of what you spend on groceries to our school! As in the last few years,
the PAC will be sending out a Thrifty Foods Smile Card to each grade 6
family. The card is easy and free to use - you pre-load it with an amount
