ROMS TV Announcements

Good afternoon Royal Oak and welcome ROMS News. Today is Wednesday, June 21th, 2017 and here is what is happening at 751 Travino Lane.

Do you know  that today is the very first full day of summer?  What a beautiful day out there!

Do you know that Ostriches do NOT bury their heads in the sand. This tale originates from the fact that the male ostrich will dig a large hole (up to 6 to 8 feet wide and 2-3 feet deep) in the sand for the nest / eggs. Predators cannot see the eggs across the countryside which gives the nest a bit of protection.

Awww, how cute:  Otters are known to hold hands in groups - called a raft - while they eat, sleep and rest, to prevent families losing each other. The furry animals, the largest member of the weasel family, are even known to wrap sea plants around them to secure the bond.

1) Today's weather:  This morning we have a mix of sun and…more sun!  It’s 14 degrees outside and getting warmed by the minute.  This afternoon it’s expected to be 18 degrees.  Remember to drink lots of water!

2)  Keep up your recycling.  Recycling reduces the amount of garbage we send to our landfill.

3)  Pizza day and chocolate milk is this Friday.   You have to love pizza!!

4) Fun Fact:  Do rotten eggs float or sink?  All you need to do is fill a bowl with cold water and place the egg inside. If it sinks to the bottom, it's good. If it sinks but stands on its point, it's good, but won't be good for much longer and should be used soon. If it floats, toss it.

5)  End of the Year Library Book Return:  As of yesterday we have approximately 300 books still not returned.  Please come and see Mr. Ball or Ms. Rayner if you know you have a book still signed out.  They will be coming around to talk to you, so why not find them first!

That concludes our TV news cast! Please join us tomorrow for further breaking  news stories here on 751 News!

Thanks for making ROMS TV your #1  station! If it is happening, it is happening here on 751 TV

With the 2017/2018 ROMS Athletics year just months away, we will be needing community members and parents to help with the supervision, coaching, and transportation for our many teams. School District 63 requires that adults who can assist is any of these ways have an up to date Criminal Record Check on file with our school. Parents are encouraged to get this done now, and avoid the busy start of the year in September when it can take over a month for this to be processed. Our Royal Oak students and staff really appreciate the help with our school teams and are a big part of the success of our Athletics program. Please contact Mr. Menzies or the school office for details.
