ROMS TV Announcements
Good afternoon Royal Oak and welcome to the ROMS News. Today is Monday, June 19th, 2017 and here is what is happening at 751 Travino Lane.
Do you know that up to 50% of the water in your drinking glass was created over 4.5 billion years ago - this means that about half of the Earth’s water is older than our entire solar system, even the sun!
Fact or Fiction: Swallowed gum will remain in your digestive system for an average of 7 years? What do you think?
Do you know that Erno Rubik, who invented the Rubik’s Cube, actually wanted a working model to help explain three-dimensional geometry and ended up creating the world’s best selling toy? It took Rubik one month to solve his own puzzle.
1) Today's weather: This morning we have a mix of sun and cloud and a temperature of 14 degrees. This afternoon it’s expected to be 20 degrees, with a 30% chance of light rain.
2) There are a lot of school events starting up. Be sure to listen to the morning announcements to see where you might get involved in your school.
3) Keep up your recycling. Recycling reduces the amount of garbage we send to our landfill.
4) Pizza day and chocolate milk is this Friday. You have to love pizza!!
5) Fun Fact: What does the X in x-ray stand for? The answer is that a German physicist discovered a new form of radiation in 1895. He called it X-radiation because he didn’t know what it was. Yes, it’s as simple as that. This mysterious radiation had the ability to pass through many materials that absorb visible light.
5) End of the Year Library Book Return: Just a quick reminder that book circulation for this school year has come to an end. If you are looking for something to read, please check out your closest public library. If you don’t know where one is, please ask in the Learning Commons.
And now for the answer to our ‘gum’ fact or fiction question: Of course not! There's nothing for it to stick to in your digestive system, so although it would not be digested much, it would just pass right through.
That concludes our TV news cast! Please join us tomorrow for further breaking news stories here on 751 News!
Thanks for making ROMS TV your #1 station! If it is happening, it is happening here on 751 TV

With the 2017/2018 ROMS Athletics year just months away, we will be needing community members and parents to help with the supervision, coaching, and transportation for our many teams. School District 63 requires that adults who can assist is any of these ways have an up to date Criminal Record Check on file with our school. Parents are encouraged to get this done now, and avoid the busy start of the year in September when it can take over a month for this to be processed. Our Royal Oak students and staff really appreciate the help with our school teams and are a big part of the success of our Athletics program. Please contact Mr. Menzies or the school office for details.
