Morning Radio News @ 9:05 am

Drawing Club: Today in Ms. Noel's Room during activity time, please bring pencil crayons, skinny felts, pencil,a ruler and glue.



Mountain Bike Club: A reminder the the Stump Jumpers that we ride today after school. Let Mr. Kenny know if you will be riding today!



Canteen today: Popcorn on sale at first recess. Popcorn $1.50, White Cheddar $2.00 per bag.


Canteen Thursday:
On sale at recess tomorrow -chocolate chip cookies, smoothies, and burritos.

ROMS SPORTS:

Track & Field:
The fourth and final track meet is today after school. There will be a mandatory meeting for all students participating in relays, triple jump, and 2000m today at FIRST recess to discuss transportation to the meet. The LIMSSA city finals take place next Wednesday June 7th at UVIC and this is an all day event. Track team members are encouraged to go to lowerislandschoolsports.ca and see if they have qualified for their events or not. There will be a very important meeting this Friday to confirm which events each team member will be participating in, so please be prepared. All track and field information/details is posted on the ROMS Athletics web page.


Gr 8 Intra Murals: Notice to all grade 8's of intra-mural badminton at lunch today.

On behalf of the Saanich Peninsula's Local Action Team for Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Martin Brokenleg to the Saanich community. Based on traditional Indigenous practices, Dr. Brokenleg demonstrates how to raise happy, secure, capable, and giving individuals. This free workshop is designed for educators, support staff, parents, and community to live with purpose and to model these teachings, which reflect the BC Ministry of Education's Core Competencies. More information on Dr. Brokenleg and the evening's presentation is attached. Registration link is below.

Field trips: A reminder to parents that the school is busy with field trips at this time of year. If your child has an Epi Pen – please make sure that you send it with your child on the field trip.



PAC REVIEW:

Silent Auction at the Beach House: To Lochside Alumni and all other parents, teachers and staff. You are invited to attend a special evening that is being put on by the Lochside Parent Council. It is being held Friday June 2nd at the Beach House restaurant on Cordova Bay Road. Tickets are $30 each and include a night of appetizers, cash bar, dancing and a silent auction. All the proceeds of the night will go to help purchase an electronic sign for the school. If you would like to attend please email Lynn Hood at lynnmhood@hotmail.com or call at 778-350-4661 to buy tickets. Hope to see many familiar and new faces at this event.

Planning for the Grade 8 Farewell is well underway. As many of you know, the event is on June 26 from 6-9 and the theme for the event is Sunset Beach Party.


Tickets for the event are $10 and will be on sale every Thursday and Friday at lunch recess from May 25-June 9.


Please send baby photos of their kids at the "beach" to melanie.posthuma@ebuynow.com so that we can put together a video to run at the event.
