Girls Circle: Girls Circle meets today. We'll be splatter painting today. Make sure to bring extra clothes. We'll meet at the green conference at 12:15 before heading outside. See you there! 


Pizza Day – Classes will be called in the following order: Orca, Raven, Thunderbird & Wolf Helpers: Extreme Team

Grade 8 Farewell: Attention grade 8 students: Grade 8 farewell tickets will be on sale in the main foyer this today at lunch recess!! $10 per ticket.


Dress Code: Just a reminder to students that you are responsible to dress appropriately for school especially during the warm weather.


Welding Camp: July 4-7, 2017 @ Claremont Secondary School. This is a free camp for ages 12-16. Please see Mr. Reston in the Tech Ed shop for details.



ROMS SPORTS:


Track & Field:

Next week's track and field schedule has now been posted on the ROMS Athletics webpage. Please view to see when practices are happening next week. Also, the fourth and final track meet before the City Finals is next Wednesday, May 31st. Please discuss transportation to this meet.

Results from the first three track and field meet have been posted on lowerislandschoolsports.ca. Please look to see that these results are accurate and notify Mr. Menzies of any errors you may see. The City Finals take place Wednesday June 7th and are all day at UVIC, so qualifying students will need to miss this school day to attend. Parents who are able to help our team at the City Finals are asked to email Mr. Menzies.


Beach Volleyball: The next practice is on Monday after school outside on the back field.

Information Workshop for Parents & Caregivers:

On behalf of the Saanich Peninsula's Local Action Team for Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Martin Brokenleg to the Saanich community. Based on traditional Indigenous practices, Dr. Brokenleg demonstrates how to raise happy, secure, capable, and giving individuals. This free workshop is designed for educators, support staff, parents, and community to live with purpose and to model these teachings, which reflect the BC Ministry of Education's Core Competencies. More information on Dr. Brokenleg and the evening's presentation is attached. Registration link is below.

Fieldtrips: A reminder to parents that the school is busy with field trips at this time of year. If your child has an Epi Pen – please make sure that you send it with your child on the field trip.



PAC REVIEW:

Silent Auction at the Beach House: To Lochside Alumni and all other parents, teachers and staff. You are invited to attend a special evening that is being put on by the Lochside Parent Council. It is being held Friday June 2nd at the Beach House restaurant on Cordova Bay Road. Tickets are $30 each and include a night of appetizers, cash bar, dancing and a silent auction. All the proceeds of the night will go to help purchase an electronic sign for the school. If you would like to attend please email Lynn Hood at lynnmhood@hotmail.com or call at 778-350-4661 to buy tickets. Hope to see many familiar and new faces at this event.

Planning for the Grade 8 Farewell is well underway. As many of you know, the event is on June 26 from 6-9 and the theme for the event is Sunset Beach Party.


Tickets for the event are $10 and will be on sale every Thursday and Friday at lunch recess from May 25 - June 9.


Please send baby photos of their kids at the "beach" to melanie.posthuma@ebuynow.com so that we can put together a video to run at the event.
