Good afternoon Royal Oak! Here are the News stories you have been waiting for. Today is Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 and here is what is happening at 751 Travino Lane
Do you know that you can take a selfie of yourself in front of an “I Voted” poster that is located outside of the Learning Commons? If you did in fact vote on Friday, feel free to jump in front of this poster as an individual or a group.
Did you also know: More than 170 000 elementary, middle and high school students participated in the Student Votes program for the 2017 BC Provincial Election. After learning about the electoral process, researching the parties and platforms, and debating the future of BC, students cast ballots for the official candidates running in their local electoral district. Here at ROMS we were lucky to have met 4 of the 5 candidates for Saanich South.
As of 4:15 pm yesterday afternoon, 1 092 schools had reported their election results, representing all 87 electoral districts in the province. In total, 170 238 ballots were cast by student participants; 163 923 valid votes and 6 315 rejected/spoiled votes.
In the Student Vote results, the NDP forms government with 60 seats. The Green Party forms the Official Opposition with 14 and the Liberal win 12. One independent candidate was elected.
