ROMS TV Announcements

Good afternoon Royal Oak!  Here are the News stories you have been waiting for.  Today is Monday, May 1st, 2017 and here is what is happening at 751 Travino Lane

Do you know  that on Friday May 5th, ROMS will be going to the polls?  That’s right, you will have the opportunity to participate in Student Vote 2017 for the upcoming Provincial Election, right here at school.  You will experience what it is like to cast a vote, and attend a voting station (we will have 4 voting stations plus one in the Learning Commons).   It’s important that before you vote, you are informed, so read up!  Since our school is located in the Saanich South District, you will find on your ballot: David Calder (Liberal Party); Andrew Paul McLean (Libertarian Party); Mark Neufeld (Green Party); Richard Percival Pattee (Vancouver Island Party); Lana Popham (NDP).  So far David Calder, Mark Neufeld and Lana Popham, will be visiting us here at ROMS starting Wednesday so make sure you have some great questions to ask them.

Did you also know that we are trying to get every single student - that’s 635 people - in the school to vote in the 2017 Student Vote?  In order for us to accomplish this goal, you must have your student card (announcers:  Please show yours as a demonstration) with you on Friday May 5th.  Don’t worry, we will remind you here on ROMS news, AND you do not have to prove where you live.  In the meantime, ask your family what would happen if they forgot their photo identification when they go to a polling station; would they still be allowed to vote?

1) Today's weather:  The temperature this morning is 9 degrees with a 80% chance of a light rain.  Moving into the afternoon we have a 60% chance of rain, and a temperature around 10 degrees.

2) Health Facts:

Taste receptors cannot actually taste food until saliva has moistened it, for example we usually taste salty things first as salt dissolves quickly in moisture.

3)   There are a lot of school events starting up.  Be sure to listen to the morning announcements to see where you might get involved in your school.

4)  Keep up your recycling.  Recycling reduces the amount of garbage we send to our landfill.

5)  Pizza day and chocolate milk is this Friday.   You have to love pizza!!

6) And for today’s Riddle:

Title: Greatest Area

A farmer challenges an engineer, a physicist, and a mathematician to fence off the largest amount of area using the least amount of fence.

The engineer made his fence in a circle and said it was the most efficient.

The physicist made a long line and said that the length was infinite. Then she said that fencing half of the Earth was the best.

The mathematician laughed at the others and with her design, beat the others. What did she do?

ANSWER:  The mathematician made a small fence around herself and declared herself to be on the outside!

That concludes our TV news cast! Please join us tomorrow for further breaking news stories here on 751 News!

Thanks for making ROMS TV your #1  station! If it is happening, it is happening here on 751 TV
