Do you know that all the blinking you do in one day equates to having your eyes closed for 30 minutes? FREE SLEEP!!!
Did you also know that the sentence "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter in the English alphabet?
1) Today's weather: Keep your rain-gear close; this morning - at 9 degrees - we have a mix of sun and cloud and a 30% chance of rain. Moving into the afternoon - moving up to 12 degrees - you’ll likely need to bring your rain-gear out as there is a 70% chance of rain.
2) Today is our 2nd day of Creatures of Habitat community project. Numerous classes will be engaged in cleaning up the Mahon creek area on the south side of the school grounds, releasing salmon into Colquitz creek as well as learning numerous facts about our environment. A big thank you to Ms. Robson for organizing this amazing event.
3A) Health Facts:
Exercising makes you both more productive and happier for the day that you exercise. It also affects your brain function and memory, and these positive effects last for the entire day!
3B)Human eyes contain a small blind spot where the optic nerve passes through the retina. Our brains use information from the other eye to fill in the vision gap so it is rarely, if ever, noticed, and we all have it! This happens because there are no rods and cones (also known as photoreceptors) on the nerve head, so this area of the retina can not respond to light stimulation.
TRY THIS!: [Announcers do a quick demo: see Mr. Ball for this]
4) There are a lot of school events starting up. Be sure to listen to the morning announcements to see where you might get involved in your school.
5) Keep up your recycling. Recycling reduces the amount of garbage we send to our landfill.
6) Pizza day and chocolate milk is this Friday. You have to love pizza!!
7) And for today’s joke of the day:
Q: What can go UP a chimney DOWN, but can NOT go DOWN a chimney UP?
A: A Umbrella!! It can go up a chimney, as long as it’s down, but can not go down a chimney while it is still up.
