Morning Radio News @ 9:05 am


France 2017 Trip: Grade 8 students going to France this year, meet in Mme. Ryan's room at first recess, 11:23 today.


Learning Commons: A reminder that the Learning Commons will be closed for blocks 1 thru 3 today.


Math Contest:
The Canadian Nationals Math League Contest is today in the Learning Commons! Grade 8 in Block 1, Grade 7 in Block 2, and Grade 6 in Block 3.  Please bring a calculator and a pencil. 


Grade 7 Band:
There is a grade 7 rehearsal at 12:47 today in the Band room. Please bring your lunch.


Stage Band: There is a Stage Band rehearsal at 1:16 in the band room.



Miss Fuller's PE Students: Miss Fuller's PE students are reminded to hand in and/or share their PE projects with her by 3:30 today. Don't delay!



Talent Show: Its time again for the ROMS Talent Show.  This year we have dancers, musicians, athletes, magicians and singers. Friday, March 3rd at 7pm. A suggested toonie for donation upon entrance. France fund raiser concession – baked goods and coffee sales. Students are expected to come with adults.



Talent Show Performers: An important meeting for ALL Talent Show performers tomorrow at first recess in room 220.

Yearbooks:
Keep those embarrassing Grade 8 Baby Photos coming! Only thirteen school days left to submit your baby photo to Miss Cottier! Digital photos only- please email directly to ecottier@sd63.bc.ca


Craft Club: Today at 1:16- 1:56 at room 125.


Judo: Judo club after school today in MPR at 3:30 pm


Canteen today: On sale at recess -chocolate chip cookies, hot chocolate and pizza pockets.


Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,

Grade 8's: A reminder that you will be going to Claremont today to tour the school. Please load busses promptly at 1 pm.


Grade 8's: Just a reminder that Friday March 3, is the deadline for Course Selection forms and the Sports Institute applications.


ROMS SPORTS:

Volleyball:
Congratulations to the grade 8 boys on their matches last night. Both Rec and Competitive teams battled hard and pull off a couple wins. Well done Eagles!

There are no practices scheduled for later today, but please go to the ROMS Athletics web page to view this week's practice schedule for all teams.

As playoffs are starting this week for many teams, go to lowerislandschoolsports.ca for playoff details.

Grade 6/7 Basketball Intra-Murals: Playing in the 6/7 basketball intra-murals are canceled today due to the Grade 8 Claremont field trip. Games will be rescheduled.


Grade 8 Intra-Murals: Notice to divisions 8-3, 8-4, 8-5 and 8-6 of their intra-mural dodge ball games Wednesday at lunch.



Swimming:
Congratulations to ROMS students who participated in last Sunday's Island Swimming meet at Commonwealth pool. These swimmers were successful in many races and did their best. Well done!

There will be a meeting for all member of the ROMS swim team today at FIRST recess in the gym. All members must attend and please bring your swim team t-shirts for our team photo.



Rugby:
Notice to all grade 8's interested in taking Rugby PE at Claremont next year - there's an important meeting in Mr. Stanchfield's room Thursday at lunch.

1) Today's weather calls for cloudy skies with rain showers and a high of 7 degrees.   The forecast tells us that we will have clouds tomorrow with a high temperature of 8 degrees.   No more snow!    



2) Health Fact:

Here are some health and nutrition tips that are actually based on good science.

  • Don't Drink Sugar Calories. ...

  • Eat Nuts

  • Avoid Processed Junk Food

  • Eat Fish

  • Get Enough Sleep

  • Take Care of Your Gut Health With Probiotics and Fiber

  • Drink Water, Especially Before Meals.



3)  Grade 8’s!  The Yearbook team still wants your baby photo!   Email your photo to Ms.Cottier the yearbook champion.

4)  The  Royal Oak Talent show will be March 3   That’s this Friday!  See Ms Espedido for information.



5)  Grade 8’s - reminder that you will be going to Claremont today to tour the school.  Please load busses at 1 pm.



6)  Reminder to the Archery Club that you go to SCP every Thursday.



7)  Congratulations to all the volleyball teams at Royal Oak.  A great season for many of the teams.  In particular, the grade 8 girls competitive team has done very well this year!



8)  For the Gr 8 students and parents, the Claremont Counsellors will be here tomorrow and Thursday to meet with parents from 8:30 am until noon.  If you or your parents have questions, your parents need to  book  an appointment through the office.

Gr 8 Parents wishing to meet with a Claremont Counsellor with questions and concerns regarding academic pathways, course selection and class placement may book an appointment to meet with a Claremont Counsellor on March 1 or March 2 between 8:30 am and noon.
