Non Instructional Day Tomorrow: Just a reminder that tomorrow Friday, February 24th is a Non-Instructional Day and classes are not in session. Enjoy your three day weekend,


Band Sectionals:
There is a Trumpet Sectional today at 12:47. Please bring your lunch.


Pro G: All Pro G participants, please meet with Ms. Broome at first recess at the green conference.


Mr. Bergeron's Block 4 PE Class please meet in Mrs. Smyth's classroom 231 today.


Chess:
Chess Club canceled today. Please join us next week.


A friendly reminder to Chill Zone members to meet same place and same time today.

Today is Pizza & Pellegrino day at Royal Oak! Pizza slices $2.50 and Pellegrino cans for $2.

ROMS SPORTS:

Congratulations to ROMS Team 1 for their big wins yesterday.  The Girls continue to be undefeated in league play.  Next week is the last league matches.  ROMS will be hosting the championships in two weeks.  Go Eagles.

Congratulations to
all grade 8 girls teams on their games last night. Both teams battled hard and played well. Great job girls!

Reminder to Mr. Kenny's Gr 8 boys team of your practice at Lunch recess today, and also to Ms. Robson's and Mrs. Blaikie's grade 7 girls team of your practice also at lunch recess today.

Next week's practice schedule for all teams will be posted on the ROMS Athletics web page by tomorrow afternoon. Also, the playoff schedule for all competitive teams will be posted soon on lowerislandshoolsports.ca soon, so be sure to take a look frequently.

1) Today's weather calls for sunny skies and a high of 6 degrees.  YES!  The forecast tells us that we will have rain clouds tomorrow with a temperature of 5 degrees.



2) Health Fact:

An hour’s sleep could make you happier than $60,000

What would it take to make you happier? A better job? A larger salary? Well, according to a US study by psychologist Daniel Kahneman and his colleagues, an increase in household income actually has little effect on your daily mood. In fact, the study suggests that getting one extra hour of sleep each night does more for your daily happiness than a $60,000 raise

7)  Plastic!  Remember to reduce your consumption of plastic items and plastic bags!  We know from our assembly the concerns with plastic in our environment. Use reusable containers.



9)  Grade 8’s - reminder that Claremont will be here today  to give out course selection forms.  Be sure to get them filled out, signed and back to your homeroom teacher.



10)  Pink Day was a big success.   Was great to see so many of you wearing Pink!  Well done RO for doing the right thing.

Claremont Counsellor Appointments


Gr 8 Parents wishing to meet with a Claremont Counsellor with questions and concerns regarding academic pathways, course selection and class placement may book an appointment to meet with a Claremont Counsellor on March 1 or March 2 between 8:30 am and noon. Appointments will be held at Royal Oak Middle School and can be scheduled by contacting Donna Punt at 250-479-7128 Extension 452 or emailing your request for an appointment to dpunt@sd63.bc.ca Please ensure that you provide your student's name & Division your name and contact information.
