Welcome to all the students and teachers visiting from Claremont today!

Science Challengers:

Science challengers meet on today at lunch recess in Mr Azim's room. Please bring in sign-up forms. There is still time for interested students of all grades to join so if you have a love of science and are willing to compete on a ROMS team, please join us on Wednesday.

Navigating Change Group:
Have you you experienced a stress or loss recently that has left you feeling stressed or upset?  If you have, Royal Oak is running a Navigating Change Group.  Please see Mr. Mollard at his office at morning recess today if you would like to have more information regarding the group.

Drawing Club: Today in Ms. Noel's Room during activity time, please bring pencil crayons, skinny felts, pencil,a ruler and glue. (Runs January 11th to March 8th).

Canteen today: Popcorn on sale at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,

Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow -chocolate chip cookies, smoothies, and burritos.

Pizza & Pellegrinos Thursday:
Thursday is a Pizza & Pellegrino day at Royal Oak! Pizza slices $2.50 and Pellegrino cans for $2! 

Found: A pair of black mitts left in the office last week. Please claim at the office.


Grade 6 Girls Volleyball: A fantastic 4 straight win for the Grade 6 girls at their jamboree yesterday. Can you say AMAZING? Well done girls.

The grade 6 girls competitive team showed solid play as well. Winning 2 games over Cedar Hill, and pushing a set against St. Patrick's to a 29-27 loss in a nail biting match. FANTASTICALLY DONE!

Could all members of the grade 8 boys rec volleyball team please meet with Mr. Kenny in the art room during morning recess today to arrange rides for this afternoon's game.

Grade 8 Intra Murals: 

Notice to divisions 8-1, 8-2, 8-7, 8-8 and staff of their intra-mural dodge ball games Wednesday at lunch.

1) Today's weather calls for some sun with cloudy skies and a high of 7 degrees. The forecast tells us that we will have sunny skies tomorrow with a temperature of 6 degrees.   

2) Health Fact:

  • Out of the 206 bones in the human adult’s body, 106 are in the hands and feet.

3)   Feb 23, this Thursday, that’s tomorrow,   the judges will be out checking the school grounds.  The hallway with the cleanest outdoor zone goes first for pizza!

4) Gr 8's. The Ski trip is on!   See Mr. Kenny ASAP for details

5)  Grade 8’s!  The Yearbook wants your baby photo!   Email your photo to Ms. C ASAP

6)  The World Famous Royal Oak Talent show will be March 3. !   Be sure to sign up with  Ms Espedido if you are interested.

7)  Plastic!  Remember to reduce your consumption of plastic items!   This also means the plastic items you bring in your lunch.    Be wise and use reusable containers.

9)  Grade 8’s - reminder that Claremont will be here on Thurs this week to give out course selection forms.

10)  Pink Day is today as you all know.  It is great to see so many kids wearing Pink!  Well done RO in standing up for kindness.

Claremont Counsellor Appointments

Gr 8 Parents wishing to meet with a Claremont Counsellor with questions and concerns regarding academic pathways, course selection and class placement may book an appointment to meet with a Claremont Counsellor on March 1 or March 2 between 8:30 am and noon. Appointments will be held at Royal Oak Middle School and can be scheduled by contacting Donna Punt at 250-479-7128 Extension 452 or emailing your request for an appointment to dpunt@sd63.bc.ca Please ensure that you provide your student's name & Division your name and contact information. Thank you!

**Please note that Claremont Counsellors will be visiting Royal Oak Middle School on February 23 between 9:00 and 11:23 am to hand out Course Selection Forms to Grade 8 students.

Claremont will be hosting a Parent Information Night that evening from 7:00-8:00 pm to discuss the process and provide additional information on course selection and Claremont Sports Institute and Pursuit Of Excellence programs.
