Morning Radio News @ 9:05 am


Today is Mrs. Prevost's last day at ROMS. Classes will be visiting the Learning Commons to wish her well and enjoy a piece of cake. We will miss you Mrs. Prevost !! Happy Retirement!!


Ms. Fuller's PE Classes get changed, bring your duo tang and pencil and line up outside of the MPR for Fitness this week.


Mrs. Smyth's PE Classes: Please meet in her classroom (room 231) today for PE. Bring a duo tang with paper and a pencil or pen. 


Dance Practice: There is a dance practice today at 1:16 in the Drama room.


France 2017 Trip: There will be a France trip 2017 meeting on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 1:16 in Mme. Ryan's room.


Grade 7 Band Rehearsal: There is a grade 7 rehearsal at 12:47 in the band room. Please bring your lunch.


Stage Band: There is a stage band rehearsal today at 1:16.


Math Challengers:
Grade 8 Math Challengers meeting Thursday at lunch in Miss Cottier's room.  Please bring your blue duo-tangs and some questions to review. Please be sure to hand in your permission form for the competition on Feb 17th.


Yearbook: Have you ordered your ROMS 2016/2017 Yearbook?!? This year's book will be the best one yet!! Pick up your order form from the office or on the ROMS website so you don't feel left out in June! Grade 8's have until march 10th to email a cute baby photo to Miss Cottier!


Open House: ROMS will be hosting an Open House tomorrow. All students are asked to clean up their locker space and help keep the hallways and outside area clean. Please check the lost and found for items you may have lost!


Talent Show:
ROMS Talent show will be Friday, March 3rd from 7pm to 9pm. Auditions will be held during lunch recess starting February 13th to 23rd. The audition Sign up sheet will be posted outside room 220, starting this Thursday. Show US YOUR TALENT!


Craft Club: Today at 1:16 in room 125.


Judo: Judo club after school today in MPR at 3:30 pm


Canteen: No Canteen sales today.


Canteen tomorrow: Popcorn sold every Wednesday at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,

Volleyball:
Welcome to another week of ROMS Volleyball. This week's practice schedule is currently posted on the ROMS Athletics web page. Go to the Royal Oak home page and click on the eagle head logo to view.

Playing later today is: Mr. Phillip's grade 7 girls team here vs Cedar Hill, and Ms. Esposito's team later today at Bayside. The full schedule for all competitive division teams, and grade 7/8 Rec teams, can be viewed at lowerislandschoolsports.ca


Grade 7/8 Rec Girls: Mandatory meeting for 7/8 rec girls on Ms. Robson and Mrs. Blaikie's team today at lunch in room 221.



Basketball Jerseys: Reminder to all grade 8 competitive boys basketball players: Please return your full uniform to Mr. Menzies ASAP.



6/7 Intra murals: Grade 6/7 intra murals will continue today at SECOND recess. Mr. Menzies will visit the divisions who are scheduled to play, later this morning.

This is 751 News and Today is Tuesday, January 31 st


Do you know that the first day of spring is March 20th?

Did you also know that today is the last working day for Mrs Prevost at Royal Oak Middle School. Be sure to say your goodbye to her sometime today.


1) Today's weather calls for sunny skies and a high of 6 degrees. Yes!! The forecast tells us that we will be having more sunny skies tomorrow with a high of 4 degrees !

We are getting closer to spring!

2) Ms. Mah's puppy, Bosco, got a detention for bad behaviour on Friday at the doggy daycare. He might get expelled.....This is not good!


3) Classes, be sure to return your yellow fruit and vegetable tray back to canteen area for storage.


4) The Royal Oak Open House is tomorrow! This is our chance to show case our school. Let's make sure our classrooms and school grounds are clean and tidy for the community to see! If every class could send out a few students to do a clean up of the school grounds that would be wonderful. Reminder every hallway has a zone to look after.


5) Health Fact:

Teens need 9+ hours of sleep per night for their bodies to function properly. Less than 1/3 of high school students in 2011 reported getting 8 or more hours of sleep per night.

6) Final reminder to drop in to the LC and say your final goodbye to Mrs. Prevost. There may even be a cup cake for you as there has been numerous students bring in a celebration treats to the LC. A farewell to an outstanding educator with 35 years of teaching students in the Saanich School District. We will miss you Mrs Prevost. Happy retirement.
